The Saskatchewan Band Association is committed to ensuring Band is accessible to all. We also want to support band musicians from the BIPOC - Black, Indigenous, People of Colour - community, as well as new Canadians, in addressing some of the systemic barriers they may face as young adults and emerging leaders.
This new scholarship of $500, launched in 2024, is available annually and will be awarded based on funding availability and quality of applications.
Criteria
The SBA Band Diversity Scholarship will support Band musicians ages 18 - 25 from the BIPOC community or new Canadians who have arrived in Canada within the past 5 years and who are:
- actively involved with at least one band - school or community band
- attending some form of post-secondary education on a full-time basis. The applicant can be registered into any program from a recognized educational institution.
- residing within Saskatchewan
- actively contributing to the local band community
Application Requirements:
- Fully complete the online application form below
- Proof of full-time registration in a recognized post-secondary institution program.
The SBA Awards committee will review all applications and choose the recipients. A recipient will only be eligible to recieve the Scholarship once.
Annual deadline for applications: March 15.
