  • Please complete this Tuition Reimbursement/Education Assistance Pre-approval Application. Applications must be submitted for approval before classes start, please reference the Tuition Reimbursement/Education Reimbursement Program policy for details. You will be notified via e-mail whether your request has been approved or denied. Your Department Head will make this determination.

    Tuition Reimbursement/Education Assistance Final Reimbursement Approval: Upon each course completion and receipt of grade, you will need to complete the Tuition Reimbursement Final Approval Application. You are required to submit grade/s within 15 days of completion of each course via the Tuition Reimbursement/Education Assistance Final Approval Application.

  • Eligibility requirements:

    1. Regular full-time employees and regular part-time employees, over 21 hours on a prorated basis.

    2. Six months of continuous employment at CFC, leaves of absence do not count toward service eligibility.

    3. Good performance standing and not on an active Plan for Success at time of application.

    4. Employees must be actively employed by CFC at the time of requesting reimbursement.

    Course requisites:

    Courses/education assistance requested for reimbursement must be pre-approved by the Department Head and related to the applicant’s current job responsibilities or career development at CFC.

    Only courses taken at nationally recognized accredited colleges, universities, and technical schools will be considered for reimbursement. Nationally recognized accreditations are those from the U.S. Department of Education and/or those acknowledged by the American Council on Education.

    There is no limit to the number of credit hours eligible for reimbursement per semester. Employees are encouraged to be prudent in the selection of the number of courses attempted each semester. Time needed for formal education will be limited to the employee’s personal time off.

    Reimbursement will not be offered to any portion of the tuition paid by other sources of assistance such as, but not limited to, scholarships and educational grants.

    Tuition/education assistance is provided in the form of reimbursement upon successful completion of the course with required documentation (reference procedure). Under the program, employees are responsible for direct payment of tuition/course to educational institutions.

    Courses taken during an employee’s leave of absence are subject to further review by HR for consideration on an individual basis.

    Employees will not receive tuition reimbursement/education assistance if they terminate employment prior to completion of the courses/program.

    If an employee is separated for any reason (other than work force reduction) within 12 months from receiving tuition reimbursement(s), the employee is required to refund CFC the reimbursement amount received within that 12-month period.

    Participation in the Tuition Reimbursement/Education Assistance Program authorizes CFC to collect any reimbursement due to the agency from the final payout of accrued, unused vacation or other benefit payout in the final check.

    Benefits:

    Tuition reimbursement: up to a maximum of $3,000 per calendar year for tuition course credits only. Start date of course determines calendar year.

    Lab fees, activity/registration fees, textbooks, other learning materials, application fees, transcript fees, course waiver fees, travel costs, parking fees, equipment costs, tutoring fees, late registration fees, student activity fees etc. are not eligible for reimbursement under this program.

    CFC will only reimburse for courses completed with a final grade of “B” or higher. For courses using a Pass/Fail system, evidence of a pass is required.

    Education Assistance to maintain Continuing Education credits for licensure or certification credits or courses are eligible for reimbursement up to a maximum of $500 per calendar year.

    Tuition reimbursement and Education Assistance cannot be combined and used within the same calendar year.

     

     

    Reimbursement requests and necessary documentation must be submitted for reimbursement within 15 business days following the completion of the course. If grades are not received within the 15 business days from the institution, the CFO and HR must be notified, and reimbursement requests will only be accepted upon immediate submission of the dated receipt of grades upon CFO/HR review.

    • Employees will not receive tuition reimbursement/education assistance if they terminate employment prior to completion of the courses/program.

    This program is subject to fiscal viability. The agency reserves the right to change the amount of funding or suspend the program, if necessary. Any approved and earned reimbursements will be paid should the program need to be suspended.
