  • Spring brings wonderful new beginnings, and what a joy to connect with other families in our Folksy Family parent-child program! Dive into a world of creativity and connection in our warm, welcoming space.

    Bond over crafting seasonal folk treasures for your child with other caregivers, and then head outdoors to enjoy all the fun the season brings in our play garden. Top off the day with a cozy warm drink and freshly baked cookies. When weather allows, we’ll spend the full duration outdoors!

    Create lasting memories with your little one and find the joy in all seasons. Register to hold your spot, space is limited.

    Classes meet one day per week for 90 minutes from 9:15am-10:45am for 6-weeks on Mondays or Fridays throughout the Spring. Please do not arrive prior to this time as we have another drop-off happening and we like to stagger the times to prevent parking lot confusion.

    9:15-10:00 Circle, Seasonal Crafting, Peaceful Play (This will be outdoors when the weather allows)

    10:00-10:15  Gear Up (when applicable)

    10:15-10:45 Outdoor Play & Warm Drink and Cookie 

    This session of Family in the Forest will run from the week of 4/15 to 5/24 (Mondays or Fridays)

    Mondays:
     4/15, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20

    Fridays:
    4/19, 4/26, 5/3, 5/10, 5/17, 5/24

     

    What to expect

    Led by our Folksy Family teacher, child and caregiver will move through the morning with ease and gentility. Upon arrival, families will gather together for a circle time with music and storytelling, then caregivers can sit around our classroom table to work on a handwork project for their child. This may include felting, knitting, or sewing. Materials will be provided and absolute beginners are welcome. We will help you through the process of building your skills in handwork and creation and leave you feeling good about your ability to create something treasured for your child. 

    While the caregivers create, children are welcome to help you or play with loose parts and other soft play toys provided. Children are expected to caretake and treat our environment with kindness, and caregivers are expected to uphold our house boundaries and rules for their children. 

    The families will then dress for the outdoors, and then head to our playgarden for winter fun. A warm drink and fresh cookie will be provided to enjoy with your child.  

    Cost:  $180 per parent/child pair for a 6-week session. Additional children are $30 a session. 

    Location: 9060 Main Street in Clarence`

    Supplies Needed: Please do not bring snacks into the house or playgarden. Weather appropriate clothing and footwear (program runs rain or shine) is necessary. For the Winter months you'll want to be prepared for cold weather. Snowsuits, wool base layers, and multi-layers is recommended with well insulated winter boots, waterproof mittens, a hat or balaclava. For Spring, be prepared for mud; Rainboots, Dungareers or rain pants, raincoats, rain gloves.   

    Registration in the program is on a first-come, first-served basis. If full, a waitlist will begin. (email hello@thefolksyhouse.org) Payment is non-refundable if requested less than 2-weeks before the program begins. 

  • Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19 The Novel Coronavirus

    COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is reported to be extremely contagious. The state of medical knowledge is evolving, but the virus is believed to spread from person-to-person contact and/or by contact with contaminated surfaces and objects, and even possibly in the air. People reportedly can be infected and show no symptoms and therefore spread the disease. The exact methods of spread and contraction are unknown, and there is no known treatment, cure, or vaccine for COVID-19. Evidence has shown that COVID-19 can cause serious and potentially life threatening illness and even death. The Folksy House cannot prevent you [or your child(ren)] from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while utilizing Folksy Scout’s services or premises. It is not possible to prevent against the presence of the disease. Therefore, if you choose to utilize Folksy Scout Inc’s services and/or enter onto Folksy Scout Inc’s premises you may be exposing yourself to and/or increasing your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19. ASSUMPTION OF RISK: I have read and understood the above warning concerning COVID-19. Ihereby choose to accept the risk of contracting COVID-19 for myself and/or my children in order to utilize The Folksy Houses services and enter The Folksy Housespremises. These services are of such value to me[and/or to my children,] that I accept the risk of being exposed to, contracting, and/or spreading COVID-19 in order to utilize The Folksy House's services and premises in person. WAIVER OF LAWSUIT/LIABILITY: I hereby forever release and waive my right to bring suit against Folksy Scout Inc. and its owners, officers, directors, managers, officials, trustees, agents, employees, or other representatives in connection with exposure, infection, and/or spread of COVID-19 related to utilizing The Folksy Houses services and premises. I understand that this waiver means I give up my right to bring any claims including for personal injuries, death, disease or property losses, or any other loss, including but not limited to claims of negligence and give up any claim I may have to seek damages, whether known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen. CHOICE OF LAW: I understand and agree that the law of the State of New York will apply to this contract.

  • Assumption of Risk Liability Waiver & Release

    On behalf of my minor child, I hereby give permission for my child to participate in Family in the Forest (FF). I hereby warrant that both myself and my child are familiar with the risks associated with participation in FF activities. I acknowledge that my child’s participation in this program is wholly voluntary. I do hereby agree and consent to my child’s participation in the FF program during this school year and do assume all risks and hazards which are conducted as part of the associated activities. I hereby release, absolve, indemnify, and hold blameless FF, The Folksy House its officers, directors, employees, contracted employees, independent contractors, instructors, agents, organizers, and volunteers of any and all liability for damage, injury, or expense of any kind arising out of or connected with my child’s participation in FF. I understand that in case of a medical emergency, my own personal medical plan will be used if available; if not, medical aid may be sought while I am being contacted. In the event of any illness or injury, I hereby consent to whatever examination, diagnosis, or treatment and the hospital care from a licensed dentist, physician, and/or surgeon as deemed necessary for my child’s safety and welfare. I understand that the resulting expenses will be my responsibility and not the The Folksy House or FF’s, or any affiliates. As a condition of participation in the FF program by the student named in this application, I acknowledge that I have read this consent form, and knowingly, on behalf of my child, assume all of the risks associated with participating in any way in the FF program. As consideration for being permitted to participate in the scouts program, I hereby agree that I, my assignees, heirs, distributees, guardians, and legal representatives will not make claim against, sue or attach the property of The Folksy House, or their Affiliates or the supplier of any of the equipment used in these activities for injury or damage resulting from negligence, failure of care, omission or other acts, howsoever caused by an employee, agent or contractor The Folksy House. and any affiliate as result of incidental to my child participation in these activities. I hereby release, to the fullest extend permitted by law, The Folksy House, Inc. and the affiliates, from any and all actions, claims, demands, or liabilities that I, my assignees, heirs, distributes, guardians, and legal representatives now have or may hereafter have for injury or damage resulting from my son/daughter’s participation in these activities irrespective of whether the same is based on breach of warranty, negligence, strict liability or any other theory or recovery. Parent/Legal Guardian acknowledges that FF is an enrichment program and not a licensed childcare or daycare facility.
