Fairfax Art League Exhibition at The Virginian

The Virginian Senior Living Community has invited Fairfax Art League to exhibit our artwork for the residents. The residents will vote for Best in Show ($100) and two honorable mention ($50 each) awards. 

This exhibition is themed "Earth Day Celebration"

Celebrate Earth Month with us this April by contributing to our special Earth Day exhibition at The Virginian! Earth Day, on April 22, is a global reminder of the beauty and fragility of our planet. We invite artists to create works that explore themes of nature, sustainability, and our connection to the Earth.

Theme Description: From the breathtaking landscapes that inspire awe to the challenges of climate change that demand action, we are seeking artwork that conveys the essence of Earth’s story. Whether you highlight environmental triumphs, showcase the wonders of biodiversity, or provoke thought about our role as stewards of the planet, we encourage creative interpretations that inspire awareness and hope.

This exhibition is for FAL members only.

Exhibition dates: April 13, 2025 – June 29, 2025

Entries due by: March 31, 2025   

Artwork drop off:  April 12, 2025 from 3-5pm

Unsold artwork pickup: June 29 2025 (3-5pm)

Entry to this exhibit is by online submission.

You may provide up to three (3) entries. One or all may be accepted depending on the number of entries and the exhibition space. The artwork size can be up to 22 x 30 inches.

We are requesitng a brief description of each artwork that highlights how you see this artwork related to this Earth Day theme. The descriptions should be limited to 100 words.

Please ensure that you enter all the information for Photo, Title, Medium, Price and Dimension for all the artwork that you submit.

Artwork should be appropriate for general audience.

Art should be ready to hang or display with wire and d-rings, framed, matted, or with edges finished. Framed artwork should fit securely and safely. Unframed gallery wrapped canvas with no staples visible from the sides are also acceptable. Sides of unframed canvas should be painted and not left unfinished.

We cannot show work that is not ready for exhibition. Example of a professionally framed artwork with d-rings and wire:

You must provide one photo for each entry. Acceptable file types are: jpg, jpeg, pdf, and png; up to 5MB in file size. Smart phone photos are acceptable. Please ensure that photographed artwork is not inside glass frames to reduce the glare. You must name your files as follows: "YourLastName-FirstName-ArtworkTitle". 

All artwork must be original work and not a digital reproduction print. Photography, digital art, and hand-printed fine art prints (block prints, woodcuts, relief prints, monoprints, lithographs, intaglios, etchings, engravings, etc) are welcome for entry. We can only exhibit 2D art.

 Fairfax Art League cannot be held responsible for any artwork left after the pickup deadline. The gallery has limited space and artwork could get lost, misplaced, or damaged. Any art left over 30 days after the close of the show will become the property of Fairfax Art League.

Terms and Conditions

Carefully review all the terms and conditions in this artwork submission form. 

By submitting this form, you agree to:

1. 25% Commission to Fairfax Art League : If my artwork is sold in this venue, I agree to a 25% commission to Fairfax Art League that will be automatically deducted from the amount I receive.

2. Fairfax Art League cannot be held responsible for any artwork left after the pickup deadline. The gallery has limited space and artwork could get lost, misplaced, or damaged. Any art left over 30 days after the close of the show will become the property of Fairfax Art League.

3. Terms and Conditions Accepted 

• By signing in your artwork, the artist hereby authorizes the display of his/her artwork and releases the City of Fairfax and its representatives of the Fairfax Art League, from liability and/or payment of damages for theft, loss of, or damage of the artwork caused by water, fire, or any other cause which might occur while the artwork is being exhibited online and/or stored at a Fairfax Art League facility prior to the retrieval of the artwork by the artist or his/her representative.
• Have each art piece framed, wired, and ready for presentation
• Follow the Fairfax Art League membership guidelines
• Volunteer 24 hours per year for Fairfax Art League activities
