This incubator, managed by the ARC Hub, will fund and accompany small scale sector specific initiatives on anti-racism. We are looking for concrete ideas on advancing racial justice in Canadian international cooperation, particularly initiatives led by those most impacted by racism (Black, Indigenous and racialised people, especially women and gender-diverse people). The ARC Hub team will be supporting and accompanying the work of dedicated organizations. We want to support sector innovation around anti-racist and intersectional feminist principles and application in our work.
How much money will an initiative receive?
Each initiative will receive $CAD4000 and we can fund up to 5 initiatives. Organizations are welcome to submit a joint submission with another organization (totalling a maximum of $8,000).
What’s the timeline?
Applications for the initiatives are open from February 19th to March 29th.
The initiatives are to be implemented between April 2024 and September 2024, for a maximum of 6 months.
We will be hosting learning sessions in October and November 2024 so you can share what you learned from the initiatives with the sector.
What are we looking for in our initiatives?
We are looking for small scale sector specific initiatives on anti-racism. We are looking for concrete ideas on advancing racial justice in Canadian international cooperation, particularly initiatives led by those most impacted by racism (Black, Indigenous and racialised people, especially women and gender-diverse people).
We encourage you to be creative and innovative: we are hoping to see new ideas, or new ways of putting into practice anti-racism, decolonisation and intersectional feminism in the Canadian international cooperation sector.
We will also be looking at the initiatives alignment with the anti-racism framework.
What we won’t fund?
This funding is not for standard equity advancing practice including policy development, updating hiring practices, basic anti-racism training, unless your organization is taking a demonstrable innovative, creative or novel approach that can be tested or piloted and shared with others.
I have an idea but my organization won’t support my application?
If you are having trouble getting your organization to support your application for an initiative - reach out to us at arc@cooperation.ca. We don’t want our process to be a barrier.
