The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) can help eligible New Yorkers heat and cool their homes. If you are eligible, you may receive one regular HEAP benefit per program year and could also be eligible for emergency HEAP benefits if you are in danger of running out of fuel or having your utility service shut off. Questions regarding the HEAP program should be directed to your HEAP Local District Contact.

If you heat your home with oil or kerosene you should have a Clean and Tune done on the heating appliance every year.
Clean and Tune: The Weatherization Assistance program requires all heating appliances be serviced, within the time frame noted above, before any work can be performed on your home. Not having a Clean and Tune done on your heating appliance may cause a delay in getting Weatherization work performed. If you need a Clean and Tune or an Emergency Repair/Replacement, HEAP may be able to help cover the cost if income-eligible. If you heat your home with natural gas or propane you should have a Clean and Tune done on the heating appliance every two years.
