Overview
Assessors play an important role in the Technical Officials Pathway. Assessors will have the task of ensuring that aspiring technical officials meet nationwide standards as they pass their qualification. Assessors are integral in ensuring the consistency of officiating standards across New Zealand.
Preferred Qualifications Include:
- Current World Aquatics List Referee or Starter, Senior Experienced Referee or Former Qualified Referee (in past 4 years)
- Experience as Referee or Starter at national events
- Previous experience as an Assessor in their region or for another sport
Skills Required
It is expected an Assessor would be able to:
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of KPIs relevant to the desired performance standard being assessed.
- Analyse an officials performance against the requirements and determine strengths and areas to develop.
- Communicate in an honest and constructive manner. Communication skills are crucial for this role.
- Make impartial decisions.
- Exercise duties in a professional manner and maintain relevant confidentiality.
- Operate in an evaluation mindset.
- Understanding the TO pathway and what the SNZ TAC is trying to achieve
- Work with other Assessors around the country and the TO & Volunteer Development Lead to ensure consistency across New Zealand.
Key Functions & Requirements
- Assessor will need to attend identified meets within your geographical area to carry out assessments.
Appointment Process
- The SNZ TAC may ask people to consider to becoming a SNZ Assessor.
- The SNZ TAC will consider those who expressed interest and recommend appointments to SNZ. The SNZ TAC will ensure geographical coverage as part of their considerations.
- Assessor would need to be able to attend the Assessor Training course
