    Thank you for considering to be a SFAHS Volunteer. Please take the next 20-30 minutes to thoughtfully and carefully fill out the application. Applications that are not filled out with time and care may not be considered. Filling out an application does not make you a volunteer, you must complete training. Our Staff will reach out to you to complete training.

  • SFAHS is an open admission shelter that never euthanizes for length of stay, space or breed. Euthanasia is present at the shelter for animals who are suffering mentally or physically, animals that have been declared vicious by the city or who are not safe to be in the public, and for those requested from the public.

  • **The Sioux Falls Area Humane Society reserves the right to decline any volunteer application for any reason. This may include, but is not limited to any area where there is a conflict of interest or incomplete application. Due to liability issues, The Sioux Falls Area Humane Society does not have a program for court ordered or diversion program community service.

     

    Completing this application does not make you a SFAHS volunteer. You will go through the following process:

    1. Application submitted. Please allow 3-5 business days to process.
    2. If application is approved, you will be contacted to schedule your orientation and training sessions.  
    3. After the training sessions are complete, you will be able to volunteer, but additional training is encouraged.
