Affordable Commercial Tenanting Grant Application

The Affordable Commercial Tenanting Grant program is designed to reduce barriers to accessing commercial space for small business owners. Please make sure you read through the guidelines, especially the sections regarding eligible and ineligible property owners and business owners, and the sections regarding eligible and ineligible expenses. Keep in mind that this is a reimbursement-based grant, and you are responsible for providing proof of payment in order to receive funds, unless you can demonstrate that doing so represents a financial hardship.

In order to apply, you will need a letter of intent that specifies the terms of the lease agreement you are negotiating, including:

Lease rate per square foot
Lease term
Rent abatement period, if any
Tenant improvement allowance, if any
Annual rent escalation rate

Note: Applicant must have business registered with the State of Oregon Business Registry and have a current City of Portland business license by the time they enter into a grant agreement. If you do not have either, please start the process as soon as possible.

If your grant is approved, you will be required to submit bids for tenant improvements prior to finalizing a grant agreement. We suggest you start getting bids as soon as possible.
