All are invited to participate in reading and praying the Book of Psalms (The Psalter) from Monday, March 3 through Friday, April 11.
Here's how the Psalms Reading Group Ministry works:
Each participant will read the entire Book of Psalms (The Psalter) twice during the forty days of Lent.
The reading is done at home each of the forty days and at a time that suits the reader. Resources include either a bible with Septuagint (Greek) numbering (The Orthodox Study Bible is an example); a copy of The Psalter; or the book Songs of Praise by Sylvia Leontaritis, which are all available for sale in the Holy Apostles Resource Center (HARC).
The Psalms are divided into twenty sections ("kathismata" in Greek.) Each participant will receive a daily schedule of Psalm readings before the March 18 start date. Every reader will have a different assignment on a given day. This results in the entire Psalter being read daily through the combined efforts of the group.
On Day 20, each reader will have read all the Psalms. Then, the schedule is repeated for Days 21- 40 and is completed on April 11
To participate and be assigned your place in the scheduled readings, please fill out the form below by Sunday, February 23. We look forward to jointly reading and praying with you this season!
