APPLICATION DEADLINE: ROLLING ADMISSION
The growing trend of stress, mental health, and other psychosocial disorders in The Gambia has created an urgent need for highly trained mental health counsellors.
The Civil Service University (formerly MDI) was established in 1982 by an Act of Parliament to provide management training, consultancy, and research to the public, private, and NGO sectors in The Gambia.
WAYAS Counselling & Training is a private organisation specialising in providing professional counselling, psychotherapy, and mental health training to individuals, organisations, and communities in both The Gambia (Registration No. SRN 1820125948) and the UK (Registration No. 15286574).
Together, these organisations have partnered to address the gap in mental health needs through high-quality training programmes in Professional Counselling & Mental Health for professionals and the general public.
The programme is aligned with the standards and quality assurance requirements of the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority (NAQAA) in The Gambia and the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) in the United Kingdom, ensuring internationally recognised quality, professional relevance, and academic credibility.
GOALS
The collaboration between the two institutions aims to:
- Increase access to counselling services in The Gambia by providing training to create a qualified, competent, and culturally relevant counselling and mental health workforce.
- Work in collaboration with organisations and institutions to advance, promote, and protect clients’ mental health interests.
- Be leaders in the provision of quality, efficient and cost-effective counselling and mental health services in The Gambia and the diaspora.
