The Greater Waco Aerospace Alliance is awarding scholarships to outstanding college students pursuing a degree in an aviation/aerospace-related career or a related engineering program from Texas State Technical College Waco, Baylor University, McLennan Community College, Texas Tech University at Waco or Tarleton State University at Waco. The minimum amount per scholarship will be $1,000.
A Student Must:
- Be enrolled in his/her final year of high school
- Be enrolled in a Region 12 high school (public or private)
- Region 12 is defined as Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Freestone, Hamilton, Hill, Lampasas, Limestone, Mills, McLennan and Navarro counties
- Pursue an aviation/aerospace or engineering related degree at Texas State Technical College Waco, Baylor University, McLennan Community College, Texas Tech University at Waco or Tarleton State University at Waco
- Enroll in college for the Fall 2024 semester
- Complete the following scholarship application form
- Attach an official copy of his/her most recent high school transcript, which displays current high school GPA, class rank and SAT/ACT/STAAR scores.
- Provide a recent photo
Selection and Award Processes:
All applications received by the deadline will be screened for meeting established requirements, reviewed for completeness, evaluated for merit, and graded against scoring criteria established by the Greater Waco Aerospace Alliance Scholarship committee. A selected group of the highest-scoring applicants will be interviewed as part of the final selection process. Scholarship awards shall be based on the results of all scoring, including interviews. Awarded scholarship funds shall be paid directly to the accredited school of higher education. The award will be divided equally over two consecutive semesters, beginning in the fall semester of 2024. In the spring semester of 2025, the second installment shall be paid following verification of the student’s continued full-time enrollment and verification that the student has maintained at least an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Uses of Funds:
Scholarship funds are to be used solely to offset costs associated with tuition and fees and/or books and classroom materials.
Transferring of Funds:
Students who are completing coursework at TSTC, Baylor, MCC, TTU-Waco or TSU-Waco and will be transferring to another university are eligible to use scholarship funds for education purposes at any Texas university or college pending approval of the Greater Waco Aviation Alliance Scholarship Committee, verification that the student continues to meet the scholarship’s eligibility requirements, and proof enrollment.
Future Eligibility:
Scholarship recipients are eligible to reapply for this program annually, based on the availability of funds, and subject to continued meeting of eligibility requirements. Current scholarship recipients who meet eligibility requirements will be given priority consideration by the scholarship committee and will be required to submit a current transcript including current cumulative GPA and letter to the scholarship committee requesting consideration.
Applications will be considered regardless of race, color, creed or gender.
NOTE: Priority consideration will be given to students of veterans and active military personnel as well as students planning to remain in the Greater Waco area following graduation.
