The Los Angeles Giving is a local grassroots non-profit that supports organizations that help underserved, self-identifying women and girls achieve self-sufficient sustainable lives, so that the vicious cycle of inequity can be broken once and for all.
Our grants go to those organizations that have life-changing positive impact on the self-described women and girls served. Examples include:
· a young girl receives mentorship that helps her to go to college;
· a woman leaving domestic violence receives support to become financially independent;
· an after-school program spikes a young girl’s interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM);
· a single-mom is given hands-on skills to achieve a living wage or beyond;
· a formerly homeless woman is enabled to achieve independent living
· a young girl develops talents in film or photography that propels her into internship and/or career opportunities
· underserved women learned hands-on skills that enable them to have a living wage and beyond in typically female-underrepresented professions.
While these are only a few examples, it is important to note that our grants go to those organizations that support self-described underserved women and girls; a majority of women or girls participating in your program does not qualify as meeting LAGC’s grant qualifications. In addition, we tend to rate slightly higher those growing organizations where smaller grants can make a bigger difference.
Priority will be given to:
· Programs that work with low-income women and girls
· Innovative startups with solid organizational leadership and strong boards.
Types of funding we will not consider:
· Grants or scholarships to individuals, endowment funds, capital campaigns or projects
