About the Master's Grant
The Master’s Student Grant award is made possible by the Department of Biological Sciences at Cal Poly Humboldt and the Biology Graduate Students Association (BGSA Club). Funds are distributed to graduate students through one grant allocation per year, which is administered by the Master’s Student Grant Program Committee and/or the BGSA Club administrator. This year, the BGSA Club has generously offered to match the funds given by the department; therefore, half the awards will be paid by the Department and half the awards will be paid by the BGSA Club.
To be eligible, graduate students must be enrolled during the semester that the grant is given and when the funds are actually spent. This year, up to 8 grants will be awarded and each student will be awarded up to $500 in qualified research expenses (such as supplies, transportation to field sites, travel to meetings, etc...). Students who receive a grant that is administered by the Department will need to meet with the department coordinator to arrange for reimbursement and/or help with ordering supplies. Students who receive a grant administered by the BGSA Club will need to contact the Club to to arrange for payment.
Decisions about the awards will be based on the following factors:
1. Strength of the proposal
2. Academic Record
3. Progress toward the degree
4. Need
Proposals should be organized according to the guidelines listed below. Please contact the Department Office if you have questions about the application process.
