  • ELIGIBILITY: The 2026 Meredith Mike Triathlon is open to all individuals 18 years of age or older. Participants must be 18yoa by October 5, 2025.

  • Although it is not anticipated that weather, road construction, etc. will affect the race. The race organizers reserve the right to adjust the course, the time of the race and cancel the race dueto factors beyond their control which includes but is not limited to weather and road construction. We will make every effort to conduct the race to the best of our ability with the safety of all participants and volunteers in mind.

    ACCIDENT WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY: I,

    acknowledge that the Meredith Mike Triathlon is an extreme test of a person's physical and mental limit and carries with it the potential for death, serious bodily injury and property loss. The risks include, but are not limited to, those caused by terrain, facilities, participants, spectators, volunteers, coaches, event officials, event monitors, and/or producers of the event, and lack of hydration. I hereby assume all the risks for participating in this event. I certify that I am physically fit, have sufficiently trained for participation in the Meredith Mike Triathlon, and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical person. I acknowledge that this Accident Waiver and Release of Liability will be used by the event holders, sponsors and organizers, in which I may participate and that it will govern my actions and the responsibilities at said event. In consideration of my application and permitting me to participate in the Meredith Mike Triathlon, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors and assigns as follows: (A) Waive, Release and Discharge from any and all liability for my death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft, or actions of any kind whichmay hereafter accrue to me or my traveling to and from this event, THE FOLLOWING ENTITIES OR PERSON(S): The Lake Meredith Aquatic and Wildlife Museum, City of Fritch, Tx, Lake Meredith National Recreation Area, Lake Meredith National Park Service, Fritch Volunteer Fire Department, Borger EMS, Emergency Medical Services, Sponsors, their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, representatives and agents, the event holders, event sponsors, event directors, event volunteers; (B) Indemnify and Hold Harmless the entities or person(s) mentioned in this paragraph from any and all liabilities or claims made by other individuals or entities as a result or my actions during the Meredith Mike Triathlon. I hereby consent to receive medical treatment, which may be deemed advisable in the event of an injury, accident, and/or illness during the event. This AWRL shall be construed broadly to provide release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under the applicable law. I hereby certify that I have read this document and I understand its content.

  • OFFICIAL RULES

  • BIKING:

     You must keep at least 3 bike lengths of clear space between you and the cyclist in front. If you moveinto the zone, you must pass within 15 seconds. Always keep to the right-hand side of the course of travel unless passing; riding on the left side of the course without passing anyone and interfering with other cyclists attempting to pass is not permitted. Once passed, you must immediately exit the draft zone from the rear before attempting to pass again. Athletes must not make any forward progress unaccompanied by their bicycle. If a bicycle is rendered inoperable, an athlete may proceed on the cycling course, running or walking, while pushing or carrying the bicycle, SO long as the bicycle is pushed or carried in a manner not to obstruct or impede the progress of other athletes. It is the sole responsibility of each athlete to know and follow the prescribed cycling course. No adjustments in times or results will be made, for any reason whatsoever, for athletes who fail to follow the proper course. This is a rough course; please keep in mind you may have to shoulder or walk your bike at times.

    Helmets must be worn at all times while on your bike. This means before, during, and after the event. Chin straps must remain buckled at all times when on a bicycle. You cannot unbuckle your chin strap, unless you are off your bicycle.

  • RUNNING:

  • It is the sole responsibility of each athlete to know and follow the prescribed running course. No adjustments in times or results will be made, for any reason whatsoever, for athletes who fail to follow the proper course. All athletes must obey all traffic laws while on the running course unless otherwise specifically directed by a Race Referee or Race Official with actual authority. Unless otherwise directed in accordance with the preceding sentence, all athletes must come to a complete stop when required by a traffic sign or traffic control device and must not proceed through any intersection unless such intersection is clear of oncoming traffic.

  • KAYAKING:

    Paddles must not be fixed on the kayak in any way. The course will be marked with buoys or floats, you must stay within this course. It is prohibited to receive external assistance during a race. No participant may be accompanied along and adjacent to the racecourse by other boats while the race is in progress. No participant may receive assistance by using objects thrown into the course. Any of the above infractions will result in the disqualification of the competitor concerned. Standardized Touring Kayaks and paddles are to be provided by the participant. The kayak is to be designed as a sit-in and not as a sit-on type. Kayaks shall be propelled solely by means of double-bladed paddles. There is no other specific rule for kayaks-construction (material, length, weight etc but they must be safe and environmentally sound. SAFETY GEAR: Life jackets-vests and a safety whistle must be worn at all times.

    A team is composed of 3 athletes regardless of gender. The first athlete will cover the mountain biking segment, the second one the kayak segment and the third one the run segment. The total time for the team is from the start of the 1st team member to the finish of the 3rd athlete. Time is continuous and the watch does not stop between athletes

    Race Day Check-In: All the team members must check in together. Rules and safety: All mountain biking, kayaking and running rules-listed above apply to mixed relay teams. All safety equipment-rules apply to relay

    Relay Exchange:The relay exchange from one team member to another will take place inside the exchange zone, located at Lake Meredith-Harbo Bay (see event map The exchange is completed by the in-coming athlete, using their hand to contact the body of the out-going athlete (tag) within the relay zone. If contact occurs outside the exchange zone, the team will receive a penalty of 10 seconds, which must be served in the penalty box. If the exchange is not completed, the team will be disqualified.

    Penalty Box: Penalties can be served by any team member currently competing on the field of play. Finish: Only the last team member is allowed to cross the finish line.

  • Since triathlons are individual tests of fitness, no assistance other than that offered by race and medical officials may be used.

    Transition Area - Harbor Bay All equipment must be placed in the properly designated and individually assigned areas. Furthermore, the wheel of your bike must be down on the side of the assigned space. You must return your bike to an upright position in its designated bicycle corral. You cannot interfere with another participant's equipment or impede the progress of another participant. You cannot bring any glass containers into the transition area.

    You must follow the prescribed course and stay within all coned lanes; cutting the course is an obvious violation and going outside the course is a safety issue. You cannot cross a solid yellow center line for any reason. You must obey all applicable traffic laws at all times.

    A bare torso is prohibited. Athletes must wear a shirt, jersey, or sport-top at all times during the race.

    Unsportsmanlike Conduct These are forbidden: Foul, harsh, argumentative or abusive language or other unsportsmanlike conduct directed at race officials, volunteers, spectators or fellow athletes.

    Headphones, headsets, Walkman's, iPods, mp3 players, and other types of personal audio devices are not to be carried or worn at any time during the race.

    You must wear a race number at all times during the run. Your number must face the front and be clearly visible at all times. Numbers may not be cut or folded or altered in any way. You also cannot transfer your number to any other athlete or take a number from an athlete who is not competing.

    All of your personal equipment (water bottles, clothing, snacks, etc and belongings taken out onto the course must stay on your person the entire time. No garbage, clothing, etc. is ever allowed to be thrown on the course.

    RACE FINISH, TIMING, AND RESULTS

    An athlete will be judged as finished the moment any part of his/her torso crosses a vertical line extending from the leading edge of the finish line. The race will be won by the athlete who has the shortest time from the applicable start signal to the moment when the athlete finishes the Race.

    Failure to comply with any of the Competition Rules may result in the athlete/participant being disqualified.
