The 60-minute virtual webinar will discuss the importance of sleep and the correlation between sleep habits, adolescent brain development, teen well-being, and the prevention of youth substance misuse. Attendees will gain insight and resources to help them support and educate students, parents, and communities to improve adolescent health and resiliency.
Lisa L. Lewis is a journalist, public speaker, and author. Her book, The Sleep Deprived Teen: Why Our Teenagers Are So Tired, and How Parents and Schools Can Help Them Thrive, was reviewed by the New York Times and has been described as “a call to action” and “an urgent and timely read." The Sleep Deprived Teen is an outgrowth of her previous work on the topic, including her role helping get California’s landmark law on healthy school start times passed.
Lewis has written for The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, among others. She regularly presents to schools and other organizations about the essential role of sleep. A parent of two, Lewis lives in California with her family.
