Gledhow Primary School will be hosting a 'KS2 Gledhow Science Careers Fair' as part of Science Week on Friday 22nd March. We need your help! We are inviting all parent/carers to come into school and present/ support at the fair.
The aim of this day is to inspire and inform; supporting Gledhow pupils to be better prepared for future careers. It will be a chance to explore presentations, information, discussion topics and career routes, helping to raise awareness of the many STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) led career opportunities available.
The day will be split into two halves/slots. The first slot will start at 9am and finish at 11:15am. The second slot will start at 1pm and finish at 3pm. Volunteers are more than welcome to stay for the full day however, they will have to leave the premises at lunchtime due to safeguarding reasons. Although the audience of this KS2 fair will be children from years 3-6, you can still attend and support even if your child is from a different year group. As well as professions which are traditionally considered to be in the STEM field, we are keen to highlight and promote other jobs which the children may not have thought of as relating to science. Examples of jobs that we would love to have volunteers from are, but not limited to:
- Chef
- Hairdresser
- Electrician
- Web developer/designer
- Business analyst
- Software engineer
- Animator
- Architect
- Mechanic
- Accountant
If you're not sure if your job counts as 'STEM' please fill in the form anyway! We want to hear from a diverse range of role models. Everyone is welcome!
Please fill out the initial information below. I will be contact with you individually on Class Dojo regarding more specific logistics of the day e.g accessibility, resourcing.
We hope you agree that this is an exciting opportunity to enhance our science curriculum at Gledhow but also children's science capital and their attitudes and knowledge around the subject.
