About Central Baptist Church
The ministry of Central Baptist Church is grounded in the life, crucifixion, resurrection, ascension, and return of Jesus Christ. As a historic urban African-American Baptist church, Central's appoach to kingdom building is biblically-based and holistic. Central faithfully serves humankind and develops disciples spirtually, physicaly, emotionally, culturally, socially and financially.
Central Baptist Church Scholarship Award
To be completed by Central Disciples who are December 2023 or May/June 2024 High School Graduates who are entering college or trade/vocational school. Financial aid awards are recommended by the Financial Aid and Continuing Education (FACE) Ministry, and are based on the availability of funds. The application must be submitted by April 30, 2024. Selvey-Johnson Memorial Scholarship
Presented by the Men of Central Ministry in honor of Disciple Jesse Selvey and Deacon James Johnson, this scholarship is available to Central Baptist Church High School Graduates who plan to attend an accredited college, university or technical institution this fall, and are active in at least one, CBC ministry.
Martha J. Christmas Scholarship
Presented by the Women of Central Ministry in honor of Disciple Martha J. Christmas, this scholarship is available to Central Baptist Church High School Graduates who plan to attend an accredited college or university institution this fall, have an excellent record of community service and are active in at least one, CBC ministry.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
CRITERIA:
- Students who are December 2023 or May/June 2024
- High School Graduates who are entering college or trade/vocational school.
- Must have completed at least one year of active engagement in a church
- Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed and signed application
- Short Interview during the month of May 2024 (virtually)
- Letter of Recommendation from a Congregational Member or Congregational Leader (Ministry Leader, Pastor, Deacon, etc. This is letter should NOT come from someone related to you)
- Photograph
- Personal Statement
- Resume (please note extracurricular activities, employment, community service or volunteer hours you have)
- An official transcript must be mailed to the Central Baptist Church Office at 2845 Washington Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63103; Attention: Khadija Tejan. The envelope must be postmarked by April 30, 2023. Electronic transcripts are acceptable as long as they come from a secure transcript vendor such as Parchment, Scoir, Naviance, Clearinghouse, etc. Transcripts will also be accepted via emailed if directly sent from a school official. Please send electronic transcripts to face@cbcstl.org
