  • 2024 NAAC Frank Kara Leadership Award

  • The Frank Kara Leadership Award is the National Association for Athletics Compliance’s (NAAC) premier award. It is the highest honor that may be bestowed upon compliance professionals. This award, given annually, is named in honor of former University of Minnesota Director of Compliance Frank Kara who was a leader in the compliance field and best known for hosting the inaugural NAAC Workshop in 2006. Sadly, Frank passed away away from cancer at the age of 40.

    Criteria:
    1. Be employed as a full-time compliance administrator at a collegiate institution, conference office, or the NCAA at the time of nomination with a minimum of five years of full-time compliance experience.
    2. Demonstrate leadership and vision for compliance initiatives both amongst his or her compliance peers and beyond to other collegiate leaders on their campus, conference office, and/or at the NCAA.
    3. Demonstrate a commitment to furthering the compliance profession through active participation on NAAC committee(s).
    4. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    5. Serve as a positive role model and mentor to other compliance administrators.

    Nomination Process:
    1. Nominations will be accepted from NAAC members or other individuals employed within intercollegiate athletics (e.g., the nominee’s colleagues, supervisor, etc.).
    2. Completed nomination form, including a statement (no more than 250 words) as to the rationale for this individual deserving consideration for this prestigious award.
    3. Nominations must be received by Friday, February 20
