Refund Policy:
We will fully refund a camp with at least 2 weeks notice by e-mail before the start of camp. If you cancel with less than 2 weeks notice and we can replace your camper with another, we will refund your payment.
If your child is sick for the week of camp, we will do our best to move them to another week or give you a credit toward another camp next year.
Camps are sold by the week, we do not refund missed days of camp.
Inclement Weather Policy:
The safety of our campers is our first priority. EMA Port Coquitlam reserves the right to cancel activities and/or change our schedule based on excessive heat and/or smoke. We have 2 air conditioned rooms in our gym. Unless we are forced to close for weather, there are no refunds, transfers or credits due to weather.
Behavior Policy
Our Camp Program is built on the foundations of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Any time there is a behavior issue, we will relate it back to at least one of those words.
Please review our general activities with your child. Campers are expected to participate in all activities. We will do our best to encourage a shy or reluctant child, however, if a camper refuses to participate, we will need a parent or guardian to pick them up.
Please be aware that camp can be noisy and we play games where children are temporarily out (such as dodge ball, human bowling, musical chairs).
Campers must treat each other, instructors, and the gym with respect. Social disagreements are expected and we will try to work through them. We will talk to you about any issues that come up. However, intentional violence against another, repeated disrespect, disruption, or damage to the gym will not be tolerated.
All children must follow van rules, including sitting in booster seats, if the child is under the age of 9, and wearing seatbelts. Undoing your own or someone else's seat belt during transport is not allowed and repeated issues may be grounds to terminate camp.
All campers must be fully potty trained and able to change clothes with minimal assistance.
Sunblock
We can only apply lotion sunblock on campers forearms and legs below the knee. If your child needs assistance with sunblock, please provide spray sunblock or appy it before coming to camp.
Lost Items and Technology
Please label all items coming from home with your child's name. We do not allow phones, tablets or game devices at camp at any time. Excel Martial Arts Port Coquitlam is not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen items brought into our gym, so we discourage campers from bringing toys. Please make sure that your child has all their items when you leave each day. We do provide a lost and found box where we place all orphaned items, please check this box regularly.
Injuries
The safety of our campers and staff is paramount. All of our staff and counselors are First Aid certified.
Each day in our camp meeting, we review safety rules for the gym and any excursions. If a child breaks a safety rule; we will, 1. remind them of the rule 2. give them a warning 3. call parents/guardian 4. ask you to pick them up.
Despite our best efforts, injuries can happen. If a child has a minor injury, a small bump, bruise, or scratch, we will fill out a form and mark it on the pick up sheet for you to talk to us. If there is an injury involving the head, neck or joints, you will receive a phone call. If the injury is, in our estimation, more than we can handle, we will phone you and, if necessary, an ambulance.
Photos/Videos
Excel Martial Arts Port Coquitlam reserves the right to photograph and video campers attending our program. These photos can be shared on our social media, website, and/or print marketing materials. If you do not wish your child to be photographed, please let us know by e-mail and we will do our best not to photograph or video them individually or in a small group. It is still possible that they may be in the background or a large group photo.
