  • Thank you for your interest in the Ayiti in the City Program hosted by the CUNY Haitian Studies Institute at Brooklyn College. This application requires the following to be considered complete:

     

    1. Student Profile Form
    2. Application Essay
    3. Unofficial Transcript
    4. Resume
    5. Letter of Recommendation (Optional) 

     

    Please note that this form does not save your progress. There is no "Save and Continue Later option". Please make sure you have all the required information and materials before you begin.

  • Ayiti in the City 2024 Application Form*

    The CUNY Haitian Studies Institute would like to know more about your interests and goals to plan experiences and opportunities that will be of benefit to you. Please write and upload a 750-word essay (2-3 pages) answering the questions in below:

    • Describe why you chose your specific program of study (major) at your home college. What are your long-term career goals?
    • How will your participation in the Ayiti in the City program connect with your studies at your home college? How will your participation in the Ayiti in the City program connect with your long-term career goals?
    • How might your background and experiences contribute to and/or impact your experience in the Ayiti in the City program?

     

    Your essay should be word-processed in 12-point Times New Roman fonts.
    Your entire essay should be double-spaced, with no single spacing anywhere and no extra spacing anywhere. There should not be extra spaces between paragraphs.

    You are strongly encouraged to visit your Academic Department, The Writing/Academic Support Center, or the Career Development Services Department at your college for assistance with your essay.

  • The CUNY Haitian Studies Institute would like to review your academic record and performance to confirm that you meet the minimum GPA requirements.

    For program planning purposes, we will also use your academic transcript to gauge your exposure to topics related to Black, Race, and Ethnic Studies.

    Students can use their CUNYfirst account to view, print, or save their unofficial transcript in PDF format. To do So:

    1. Log onto CUNYfirst and from your CUNYfirst Home Page, click on the "Student Center" tile

    2. Click on the "Transcript and Verification" tile in your Student Center.

    3. Click on "View Unofficial Transcript" on the left-hand navigation and select the institution you are looking to review if you have more than one institution listed.

    4. Ensure the "Report Type" is set to "Student Unofficial Transcript" and then click on "Submit. You should now be able to view, print, or save your unofficial transcript.
