Brought to you by the FSC Office of Career Services
Summer Housing Internship Program (SHIP) 2024
  • Application Instructions and Eligibility

The Office of Career Services is pleased to offer a free housing program for the summer of 2024 for select students participating in summer experiential learning opportunities. The goal of the program is to remove a housing barrier from students who otherwise would be unable to participate in a meaningful summer experience.

Availability is limited, highly competitive, and will consider a student's demonstrated need. Preference will be given to students who would otherwise be unable to participate in their local summer experience without housing support. We estimate that only a fraction of the applications received will be accommodated.

Accepted students will receive free housing from Sunday, May 12th through Saturday, August 3rd.* Occupancy, location, and housing dates are subject to availability and are at the discretion of the College. Meal plans are not included, and we cannot guarantee that housing will include a kitchen.

*For selected students, housing through SHIP is available from Sunday, May 12th through Saturday, Augusut 3rd. Any housing required past Saturday, August 3rd must be secured and paid for by the student, whether that be on or off campus.

Before applying, please read carefully and review the eligibility information listed below.

    Eligibility:

    • Must be a current FSC student enrolled in fall 2024 courses.
    • Must demonstrate sufficient financial need to warrant free summer housing.
    • Must be currently pursuing or have accepted an offer for an internship, research experience, or other career-related experience within 45 miles of FSC (111 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland, FL 33801) for summer 2024*
    • The proposed experience must require a minimum of 20 hours a week.
    • Must agree to fully participate in the program components, including bi-weekly group meetings/events.
    • Must agree to all program eligibility statements below.

Applications are due by 11:59 PM EST on Monday, March 18th. Submitting an application does NOT guarantee selection, nor is it confirmation of housing. Those selected for the program will be provided with additional details. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

*Students participating in an on-campus summer activity that already comes with a subsidized housing component (i.e. the Polk Museum of Art Summer Internship Program, campus-funded summer collaborative research experiences with an FSC faculty, etc.) should not apply for the SHIP through the Office of Career Services.

  • Agreement Statements

  • Since Florida Southern College is providing housing on its campus, you will need to adhere to both the Florida Southern College Student Handbook and Community Living Policies. Failure to adhere to these policies can lead to a hearing with the Office of Accountability, Education & Compliance, and/or lead to your removal from the program, and revoking your housing arrangement.

  • Please note: housing is traditionally provided for students participating in the Polk Museum of Art Summer Internship Program. If you are participating in one of these programs, you will NOT need to complete the remainder of this application and instead, should contact the respective program coordinator directly for more information about summer housing.
