    Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 Semester Application
  • The Wilderness Adventures Leadership Institute (WALI) Gap Semester programs (for students 18 and older) provide opportunities to test your foundational outdoor skills and further your capabilities as a leader. At WALI, you and your cohort will earn your Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification, the industry standard for professional guides, trip leaders, search and rescue team members, outdoor recreationalists, and international travelers. Other certifications may include CPR/First Aid and Leave No Trace Trainer. You will perform meaningful service work alongside National Forest rangers and non-profit advocates. You will utilize your time outside of the traditional classroom setting to hone your hard and soft skills, receive impactful leadership instruction, and build towards the capstone experience at the end of your term. With an outdoor classroom unlike any other, this is the adventure of a lifetime.

    The enrollment deadline for Summer Gap is June 1, 2026, and the enrollment deadline for Fall Gap is July 21, 2026.

  • Payment Information

  • Once your application has been submitted, we will process your application and reach out to collect the required deposit. A spot cannot be guaranteed until the deposit has been received. 

    Summer Gap Payment Information: A $1,000 deposit (non-refundable after 4/1/26) is due with your application. WA is unable to hold your spot until you have submitted both the application and deposit. The deposit is applied towards your tuition cost. Final payment is due 5/1/26 and is non-refundable at that time.

    If you cancel after 4/1/26 and before 5/1/26, WA will retain the deposit for the enrolled student and refund all other payments that have been made. For cancellations after 5/1/26, there will be no refund, and WA will retain all payments made for the enrolled student, including your deposit. Students who enroll after 5/1/26 are required to submit full payment immediately upon application.

    Fall Gap Payment Information: A $750 deposit (non-refundable after 7/1/26) is due with your application. WA is unable to hold your spot until you have submitted both the application and deposit. The deposit is applied towards your tuition cost. Final payment is due 8/1/26 and is non-refundable at that time.

    If you cancel after 7/1/26 and before 8/1/26, WA will retain the deposit for the enrolled student and refund all other payments that have been made. For cancellations after 8/1/26, there will be no refund, and WA will retain all payments made for the enrolled student, including your deposit. Students who enroll after 8/1/26 are required to submit final payment immediately upon application.
