IT'S TIME ALCOA CLEANS UP WHAT IT MESSED UP.
It is time for officials to do right by the community of West Badin, and call for an expeditious cleanup.
Too many members of the West Badin community have suffered the effects of cancer and other illness. At a time when Alcoa's profits continue to soar, the cleanup has languished:
-
Since 1916, residents in West Badin and beyond have suffered the consequences of Alcoa’s polluting aluminium factory.
- 80% of the residents closest to the hazardous waste are Black.
-
The West Badin community has experienced high rates of severe health issues, and high mortality rates.
-
Alcoa closed their Badin factory in 2007, but their former smelter site and hazardous waste disposal areas still pose danger to the surrounding communities!
