The Maternal Health Equity Program (MHEP) Doula Coordinator will play a pivotal role in addressing disparities in maternal health by working closely with Calming Nature Doula and Catholic Health organizations. This role is centered on supporting high-risk pregnant mothers, particularly within the African American community, to enhance health outcomes, reduce poor birth outcomes, and decrease mortality and morbidity rates. The coordinator will serve as the primary liaison for MHEP doulas and will ensure participants have access to essential resources addressing social determinants of health.
By fostering collaboration, advocacy, and resource access, the Doula Coordinator will directly contribute to healthier pregnancies and improved outcomes for underserved populations. Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement & Resource Connection:
Collaborate with Catholic Health OBGYN and Midwifery offices to identify, refer, and enroll eligible high-risk pregnant women in the MHEP program.
Engage with community members and organizations to build relationships, foster a sense of community, and promote program awareness.
Actively participate in community events hosted or attended by Calming Nature Doula and MHEP.
Assist pregnant and postpartum patients in navigating available resources and services related to healthcare, social services, health insurance, and other social determinants.
Provide information and guidance to clients to improve birth and health outcomes.
Advocacy & Client Support:
Advocate for clients to ensure their voices, needs, and concerns are heard, promoting their access to necessary healthcare and services.
Make appropriate referrals to social workers, case managers, or community-based organizations (CBOs) for additional support.
Promote client self-sufficiency by encouraging independent decision-making and empowerment.
Utilize the Passport to Health questionnaire and health Passport booklet to facilitate client referrals and registrations.
Program Administration & Coordination:
Maintain accurate records of client referrals, services provided, and client progress to ensure program effectiveness.
Ensure smooth program enrollment and continued engagement with high-risk pregnant patients, tracking their needs and follow-ups.
Work with supervisors to assess and evaluate the success of the MHEP and identify opportunities for improvements.
Ensure compliance with program policies and procedures, maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Carry out administrative duties related to managing the MHEP program, such as reporting, documentation, and communication with stakeholders.
Collaboration & Teamwork:
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, healthcare providers, and community-based organizations to support the success of MHEP.
Coordinate with Calming Nature Doula staff, Catholic Health, and other key partners to share insights and improve client outcomes.
Work effectively with diverse teams, contributing to a positive and supportive environment for both clients and coworkers.

Additional Qualifications:
Knowledge of local community resources, services, and programs is highly desired.
Experience working with pregnant and postpartum individuals, particularly in high-risk populations.
Experience in administrative roles, including data tracking, reporting, and documentation.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Maintain client records and reports in accordance with program guidelines.
Track and report program progress, challenges, and opportunities to the supervisor.
Ensure all program documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date.
Perform other duties related to administrative functions as assigned by the supervisor.
Work Environment:
This position requires the ability to adapt to both office and community-based settings, including home visits and outreach events. Flexibility is key to navigating this dynamic role.

Office Location:
- Will be based out of Sisters Hospital, but may also have scheduled days at other Catholic Health Offices and Calming Nature Doula Service & Center.
- Will usually work during normal business hours,. May on occasion work during the evening
- Performs some work at other locations as needed.
Education and Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as public health, social work, community development) is preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience in community outreach, program coordination, or healthcare navigation roles is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours and locations, including weekends.
