    • About Your Policy & Procedures 
    • When does your policy state that sun protection measures (Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek, and Slide) are required?*
    • UV Protection Times 
    • Cancer Council Australia and the World Health Organisation recommend sun protection behaviours (Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek, and Slide) when the UV levels reach 3 and above. Sun protection measures may also be required when outdoors for extended periods of time even when UV is below 3.

    • Babies under 12 months should not be exposed to direct sun when UV levels reach 3 and above. Babies should be protected using shade, clothing, and hats.

    • Sunglasses 
    • Our eyes are very sensitive and vulnerable to UV exposure damage. Cancer Council recommends wearing sunglasses that meet Australian Standard AS/NZS 1067.1:2016 (Sunglasses: lens category two, three, or four) and which cover as much of the eye as possible.

    • Sunscreen 
    • Sunscreen is the final defense against UV related skin damage and an important part of being SunSmart. Cancer Council Australia recommends the use of SPF50 or SPF50+ broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen.

    • The widespread use of sunscreen is not recommended for babies under 6 months. Sunscreen should be applied to small areas of exposed skin which are not protected by clothing or hats, for babies who are 6 months or older.

    • Investing in natural and artificial shade is investing into the long term health of the students / children under your care.
