About
The Rainbow Writes Award is awarded annually to two exceptional LGBTQIA2S+ high school writers in poetry and prose. The Rainbow Writes Prize was initiated by the 2022-2023 National Student Council cohort in direct response to widespread book bans throughout the nation. In an era where the voices of LGBTQIA2S+ individuals face undue censorship, Rainbow Writes emerged as a contest designed to amplify youth perspectives and revel in the exuberance of queer experiences.
All LQBTQ2S+ Writers aged 13-18 are invited to submit their best poetry and prose for the 2024 Rainbow Writes Award!
This Year’s Theme: Pride
We're looking for submissions that explore and celebrate the multifaceted theme of 'Pride'. Dive deep into your personal journey, your community, and the moments that define you. Go back in history to the first pride or get speculative and imagine a pride parade in 2100.
We are proud to announce that our 2024 judge is Keith F. Miller, Jr., celebrated author of "Pritty.”
