    This year, Kennedy Kreiger Institute is partnering with Break A Difference to recruit and coordinate all volunteers for Festival of Trees.

     More than 500 volunteers are needed for all phases of the three-day event, including setup, the event itself and breakdown.

    Volunteer Tasks BEFORE Festival of Trees: 
    November 21-26, 2024 (AM and PM Shifts Available)

    • Cleaning and preparing signage
    • Building tree groves
    • Tree assembly
    • Holiday decorating 
    • Laying snow

    Volunteer Tasks DURING* Festival of Trees:
    November 29, 30 and December 1, 2024

    • Greeting & directing attendees
    • Overseeing children’s games & activities
    • Collecting ride tickets
    • Helping Santa
    • And more!
      (*These shifts are the most critical to fill.)

    December 1 & 2, 2024

    • Breaking down event space     
    • Tree packing
    • Inventory of event supplies
    • Distribution of trees and gingerbread houses

  • Please complete this section for yourself or on behalf of a volunteer who is aged 16 or older. If you are part of a group of adults (aged 16+) volunteering together, each individual volunteer will need to complete a registration.

    Any child aged 15 or younger must be accompanied by an adult. For groups volunteering with children, please go back and select "I'm registering a family or group with children aged 15 and under".

    For groups volunteering with children under 15, there must be 1 adult chaperone present and volunteering. Each adult may accompany up to 5 children volunteers. The adult must be present the whole time the children are on site.
  • We welcome groups and families with children to volunteer together!

    Please note that any child aged 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult for the whole volunteer shift. Please submit names and ages of the members of your group below.

    If you are volunteering as part of a group with members 16 years old and older, please go back and select the "I'm an individual Volunteer or Part of a Group of Adults" option.

    Role Name Role Description

    Set-Up Shifts

    Help with Designer Days. Volunteer must be good with technology and problem solving - will be useing an inventory software.

    Sales Booth

    Where attendees purchase trees, wreaths & gingerbread houses. Volunteers will need to be comfortable working with technology (purchasing software); able to stand and walk throughout the event to mark trees sold, and be comfortable problem solving. (Booth is “Bar Height”)
    Info Booth Volunteer will answer questions regarding the event. An FAQ sheet is provided for the volunteer's reference. Volunteer will need to be enthusiastic to speak to the public. The booth is "bar height".
    Raffle Sells raffle tickets. The volunteer should be extroverted and willing to converse with the public.
    Floater Answers questions regarding the event; volunteer should be flexible and willing to help with a variety of tasks.
    Voice This volunteer will be the onsite contact for Entertainment acts during the event and responsible for making announcements through the over-head sound system as needed. They should be comfortable using a walkie talkie/radio.
