Program Information

Are you a front-of-house employee who gets a ton of questions about where to go, what to do, and where to eat? Would you like to be “in the know” about Howard County? Visit Howard County's 'HoCo in the Know' Tourism Ambassador Program will do just that! We are seeking passionate, service-oriented individuals with strong communications skills. This program will educate Howard County you on how to inform guests on the ins and outs of the area based on their interests. We will meet every two months and learn about what Howard County offers through site tours and educational sessions. Once you complete four sessions, you will become a certified 'HoCo in the Know' Tourism Ambassador. Enrollees and those who have completed the program will be publicly recognized at Visit Howard County's Annual Meeting in September. The program is free for Visit Howard County member businesses. Enrollees are to be sponsored by their respective businesses to ensure they receive the support they need to complete the program. If you need more incentive, we promise the program will be fun and enlightening - you will visit attractions, hotels, shopping districts, restaurants, and more! Fill out the form below to enroll in the program. Visit Howard County will notify successful candidates within two weeks of completing the application.
Learning Sessions

Learning sessions will take place approximately every other month. Sessions will take place at various places across Howard County. Some sessions will be bus tours, and some will be stationary at the designated location. Walking and exposure to the weather elements is to be expected.

Waiver

Liability Waiver and Release

By signing below, I acknowledge that I will be participating in classroom learning and familiarization tour (“FAM Tour”) activities hosted by Howard County Tourism Council, Inc. and other participating entities, which may include but are not limited to, attractions and businesses, rental companies, transportation companies, and tour operators.

By accepting and participating in this program, I for myself, my personal representatives, successors, assigns, heirs, legal representatives and next of kin, represent and agree to waive and release Howard County Tourism Council, Inc. and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively, “Howard County Tourism Council, Inc.”) from and against any and all rights and/or claims I may have for any loss or damage arising out of or in any way related to, directly or indirectly, the program.

Specifically, this Liability Waiver and Release is intended to include, but not be limited to, any injuries, loss, or damage that may be caused by the negligence of Howard County Tourism Council, Inc.in sponsoring and/or organizing the program. This Waiver and Release is intended to include, but not be limited to, any consequential damages which may result from delays, cancellations, modifications of itineraries, or complaints that arise from transportation or other planned or scheduled activities.

Furthermore, Howard County Tourism Council, Inc. is not assuming liability for any injury, damage, loss, or accident that may be caused by personal negligence, nor the negligence of those persons or entities that are providing said transportation and/or activities. Please be advised that food served during the program may contain shellfish and other allergens. Additionally, environmental allergens may also be present throughout the program.

I hereby certify that I am 21 years of age or older and that I have read this Liability Waiver and Release and fully understand its contents. I understand that I am giving up rights by signing it and have signed it freely and without any inducement or assurance of any nature and intend it to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law. I understand and agree that this Waiver and Release will be construed in accordance with the laws of the Maryland and the United States of America and that, if any portion of this Waiver and Release is held to be invalid, the balance shall continue in full force and effect.
