About Rotary Clubs
Solving some of the world’s most complex and pressing problems takes real commitment and vision. Rotary clubs bring together people across generations who wish to create lasting change in the world, in their communities, and in themselves. Our motto is Service Above Self.
Read about Rotary Clubs here and write an essay (200-500 words) on this question:
Service clubs make our communities stronger, more interesting, and more engaging, but service clubs are on the decline. Rotary Clubs alone have experienced a 20% drop in the last two decades.
"From your perspective, why are Rotary Clubs, or in general, Service Clubs on the decline and what do you think needs to happen for them to rebound and thrive?"
You may consider viewing Seth Godin's brief interview where he talks about tribes. Think about what you would do if you were a member of a Rotary Club to keep your club relevant and growing from the perspective of a young person today.
Rotary's dedicated members share the common ideals of service, friendship, diversity, integrity, and leadership, and use the Four-Way-Test to help guide their actions. Please take a look at this link for a better understanding: https://rotary.org/en/four-way-test-post-truth-era . Four brief questions are posed to you below to reflect on these ideals (the heart of Rotary) in your volunteer or service experience.
