Established in 1946, The Links, Incorporated is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African descent. The Orangeburg (SC) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, organized in December 1964, has continued to carry on the legacy of its Founders. Believing that a solid education is the key to a successful life, the Orangeburg Links provide opportunities to improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and our community.
Purpose: To identify high school seniors and continuing undergraduate college students who possess a strong desire for academic excellence, persistence, a desire, and passion to help others and strong leadership qualities.
Reward: THREE individuals selected from the pool of qualified applicants will be awarded a non-renewable scholarship for financial assistance during the upcoming academic year in the amount of $2,000.00.
Qualifications: Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for this award:
- Plan to graduate from high school in the spring
- Intend to enroll in either:
- Claflin University
- South Carolina State University
- OR any Historically Black College or University
- Earn a cumulative B average or above
- Demonstrate involvement and committement to extracurricular and community service-oriented acivities
- Two letters of recommendation
- Submit an official high school transcript and a copy of SAT or ACT Score Report.
