As part of the application, we ask applicants to submit a brief proposal (maximum 2 pages) for a personal research or journalism project that they might be interested in carrying out while at IPI. A strong proposal will: (1) Address key issues related to press freedom violations, journalist safety, freedom of expression, independent journalism, disinformation, and/or media innovation. (2) Show a clear understanding of IPI’s institutional possibilities and resources, including its expertise, reports, archives, and global membership network. (3) Define specific deliverables with a structured timeline. Potential outputs may include monitoring data, reports, articles, podcasts, videos, or presentations.
