Thank you for your interest in taking an Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) workshop with Friends for a Nonviolent World! We offer Basic, Advanced Level and Training for Facilitators (T4F) Community Workshops with AVP-Minnesota.
This April 13 and 14, we're offering an incredible Basic Level workshop for participants ages 15 to 25. This workshop will provide an exceptional space for teens and young adults to practice conflict resolution and build community on the University of Minnesota's beautiful East Bank.
The two day in-person workshop schedule is:
Saturday, April 13th, 10:00 am - 8:00 pm - lunch and dinner included
Sunday, April 14th, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm - lunch included
Workshop Location:
Liberal Arts Engagement Hub
120 Pillsbury Hall
310 Pillsbury Drive SE
Minneapolis 55455
This workshop is open to all community members ages 15-25, regardless of previous experience. You do not need to be a University of Minnesota student to attend.
All participants are invited to join us at no charge. Additionally, youth participants who return for a subsequent workshop will receive a $50 Visa gift card as a thank you for participating. Thank you to Hennepin County for making this possible!
Participants who attend all two days of the workshop will receive certification for their selected workshop level. In addition to the concrete skills you'll get from your workshop, participants who attend the entire workshop will receive a certificate of completion. These certifications look great on resumes and college applications!
If you would like to take the workshop but have a scheduling conflict, please contact Katie Twyman-Metzger at katie@fnvw.org to discuss options.
All participants will receive an email with more detailed information the week before the workshop. This includes guardian signatures for participants under 18, a couple small surveys, and directions for your first day.
