Summer Camp 2024

Camp Overview

Our camp aligns with our mission - to be a safe space for ALL kids of ALL abilities! As such, we have both neurodivergent and neurotypical kids in attendance. Our ratios are kept low that we can best meet the needs of all of our kids. If your child requires 1:1 care for the majority of the day, we welcome attendants, care-takers, RBTs, etc, to accompany your child at our camp! Our daily schedule includes open play in the gym, am/pm snack time and lunch in our classroom, as well as classroom activities after each time we eat (this lets our tummies settle!) Activities are structured to promote gross-motor skills, visual-motor skills, fine-motor skills, and social skills, while also being scalable to accommodate our range of ages and abilities. Campers will be divided into two groups throughout the day based on age and ability.

Requirements

Campers must be between ages 4 and 10 and be potty-trained and restroom independent. If your child needs assistance in the restroom, you are welcome to provide a 1:1 helper to attend camp with your child. Camper must bring a pack lunch, a refillable water bottle, and a bag or backpack with one full change of clothes at minimum. AM/PM snack is provided, but you are welcome to send extra snacks if your child follows a specific diet.

The following schedule is based on a full-capacity group split. Specific times are listed for example purposes and are approximations only. Each day and each group of campers are different, and small deviations to the plan are to be expected.

Camp Dates and Themes

Week 1 - June 3rd to June 7th | Blast Off To Space! - A favorite of all kids year in and year out! Children will learn about the planets and our solar system through space-themed games and activities, all culminating in our rocket launch activity!

Week 2 June 10th to June 14th | Gotta Catch 'em All! - Gotta catch 'em all! Activities will be based around kid-friendly anime and games like Pokemon, etc. These activities promote critical thinking, mathematics, and social skills, all while having fun!

Week 3 June 17th to June 21st | Community Helpers - Each day campers will learn about different community helpers, including emergency services, teachers, librarians, and of course, farmers!!

Week 4 June 24th to June 28th | United by Sports - This week will focus primarily on gross-motor skills as we practice playing a variety of sports, all of which will be modified according to our campers' needs and for in-gym play!

Week 5 July 1st to July 5th | America the Beautiful - Celebrating the birthday of our nation! Children will learn about the birth of America, why we celebrate Independence day, and make their own "fireworks."

Week 6 July 8th to July 12th | Walking with Dinosaurs - Children. Love. Dinosaurs. With this theme, we'll take a walk through the age of dinosaurs with sensory activities, games, and pretend play

Week 7 July 15th to July 19th | The World is a Stage - Performance arts are for ALL kids! Children will expand their creativity and imagination through a focus on pretend play, music, dancing, and social games!

Week 8 July 22nd to July 26th | We Rock the Sea - All aboard for a sea-faring quest filled with adventure! Children will learn about sea life and ecology through the lens of their favorite mermaid and pirate characters.

Camp Pricing

To ensure that we can provide for adequate staffing, we are only booking for full week camp registrations from now until April 30th. You can choose which weeks you would like your child to attend below. Registration fee is waived for full week bookings, but the deposit is required (applies toward camp attendance fee). After April 30th, we will open options for 2 and 3 days selections. A valid credit card is required to be on file to ensure prompt camp payments. A credit card authorization form will be emailed to you. Camp fees will be charged on the Friday prior to attendance. Late fees will be charged the Friday after the fee is incurred.

Late Pickup Policy

Campers must be picked up by 3pm to avoid late fees. We staff our camp appropriately from 9am to 3pm. If campers are not picked up on-time, our staff ratio could be compromised. As such, we will begin charging late fees if the pickup person has not arrived to pick up the child by 3:00pm. These fees will be assessed on a 20 minute interval for $20 per 20 minutes. This structure is intended to be a deterrent to discourage instances of late pickup. If late pickup continues to occur even after fees have been assessed, a conversation will be had with the parent/guardian regarding termination of camp enrollment for the child. We reserve the right to terminate camp enrollment at any time based on this policy, resulting in the forfeiture of all related camp fees to that point. No refunds will be issued if camp enrollment is terminated due to late policy.

Behavior Policy

We Rock the Spectrum Kid's Gym Fort Myers is a full inclusion gym for ALL kids of ALL abilities. This includes all behaviors. We understand that all campers exhibit different behaviors for different reasons. We want to ensure that ALL campers are safe during their days at camp. If we observe campers exhibiting aggressive* behaviors, parents will be notified immediately. If the behavior occurs towards others more than 3 times, parents will need to provide a 1:1 assistant for their child for the remainder of camp. This is to ensure that all children remain safe as well as that behaviors can be managed appropriately. Families are welcomed and encouraged to bring in their own 1:1 support provider if needed. Management must be notified in advance, and a valid business ID kept on file for the provider.

*Aggression is the act or attempted act of causing harm to another. This may or may not include hitting, kicking, biting, shoving, pinching, or pulling hair. Aggression may or may not leave a visible mark on another individual. Our staff reserves the right to determine what is and is not considered to be aggressive behavior.

Our top priority is to maintain a safe, fun learning environment for all children when participating in summer camp. In the event of a high-magnitude aggression event, it may be necessary for our staff to physically transport the child to a different setting to ensure the child's safety as well as the safety of those around the child.
