- Reference Check
- Background Check
- For private meet and greets (outside of an adoption event), you will need to have this approval before a meet with the animal you are interested in can be scheduled.
- During our meet and greets, we highly encourage any other pets in the home be included. We try to meet in a neutral terriorty for the initial meet and greet.
- Our organization allows a TWO week trial period to help potential applicants ensure the animal of which they are applying for will be a good fit for their household and their lifestyle.
- As of June 18, 2024 - Any approved adoption applications that are over 2hrs away from Moore County, NC. will be required to pay the adoption fee prior to taking any pet for a 2 week trial period. This fee will be refundable during the two week trial period ONLY.
- During our two week trial period, applicants are REQUIRED to complete a trial adoption form which will remind applicants that the animal is on a trial period and the animal is not theirs until the adoption is finalized.
- We can at times provide a crate and food, however, we strongly encourage applicants to be prepared for adoption and have these supplies on hand already.
- Our trial period also provides a two week window for applicants to mention any medical or behavorial concerns prior to adopting.
- We do NOT provide medical records during this time period.
- If at the end of the two week trial period, an applicant wants to proceed with the adoption, an adoption agreement form will be sent, and the fee will need to be paid before transfer of ownership occurs. Once an adoption is finalized, all records related to the animal being adopted will be provided to the new owners.
- If at the end of the two week trial period (or any time during), an applicant decides the animal on trial is not an ideal fit, we will take the animal back. Deciding an animal is not an ideal fit, will not declare an applicant as being unfit to adopt in the future. Our team is happy to continue to help any potential applicants search for their perfect new addition.
