Please read the following and check the box below, signifying your understanding and acceptance of these terms and conditions. Your application cannot be submitted unless the terms and conditions are agreed to.
•Current membership with GMEA and NAfME is required to apply and participate.
•If selected, the number of participants performing at the conference must not exceed 10% more than the number listed on this application.
•GMEA will provide a performance venue, chairs, a suitable piano, and music stands for each venue.
•All percussion equipment, conductor’s podium, and conductor’s music stand required for the performance will be the responsibility of the performing group.
•GMEA cannot accept responsibility for the safety of any items belonging to the performing group, including, but not limited to, musical instruments, recordings, printed music, or other printed materials.
•GMEA will print the repertoire for each performance in the printed conference program. Groups are free to bring printed programs for their performance at their own expense. Distribution of these printed programs at the door to the performance venue will be the responsibility of the performing group.
•GMEA cannot arrange for rehearsal time or space for any groups during the conference. Soundcheck time will be allotted to groups in dedicated performance venues prior to their performance.
•GMEA cannot provide any sound enhancement or amplification other than a public address microphone in venues where this is needed. Groups are free to bring their own sound systems as long as they can be set up and dismantled in the time allotted without disrupting the conference schedule.
•Performing groups will receive a plaque commemorating their performance at the conference. Only one plaque will be provided per performance.
•Conductors agree to not program more music than can be performed within the time allotted, including announcements and recognitions. A timed literature list must be submitted according to the deadlines you will receive if your group is accepted. GMEA reserves the right to refuse to allow recognitions during performances other than the presentation of the plaque to the group at the end of their performance. This is done in the interest of keeping the conference on schedule.
•All performing ensembles are encouraged to consider their repertoire through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. All performing ensembles will be expected to include at least one underrepresented composer in their program.
•The use of any large props or other visual enhancements in these performances is discouraged and, if they are needed, must be approved by GMEA in writing at least ninety days prior to the first day of the conference.
•GMEA and CNAfME members who are performers in college, college faculty, community, or professional performing groups must register for the conference if they wish to attend conference sessions.
•All conductors of performing groups must register for the conference at their own expense if they wish to attend conference sessions. Students and chaperones are not permitted to attend conference sessions.
•GMEA cannot guarantee a professional recording of conference performances. Recording information will be provided to performing groups after performance venues are determined.
