Description of the camp
The AHDR Peace Camp reimagined takes place from Wednesday 17th of July until Tuesday 23rd of July 2024 in the village of Agros in the district of Limassol. It is implemented by the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) and funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
This is an activity-filled summer camp designed for young people aged 14 - 17 years old!
The camp aims to develop trust among young people from all the communities in Cyprus and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to deconstruct stereotypes and misconceptions about each other, contributing to a peaceful and inclusive society. Participants will explore concepts related to a Culture of Peace and Non-violence, critically examine dominant narratives, explore different perspectives and strengthen their competences in regards to dialogue.
The core activities, designed and implemented by skilled and experienced educators and facilitators, are based on a range of peace education, sports, and arts methodologies and tools, as well as outdoor education, touching upon topics such as intersectionality, human rights, active listening, narratives in public space, and multi-perspectivity.
Successful applicants will be provided with a more detailed description of the agenda, packing list, travel requirements, health protocol and consent form.
- All project participants will be awarded a Certificate of Participation and will be featured on AHDR's website and social media as Peace Ambassadors of the project.
- 22 applicants will be selected for the AHDR Peace Camp reimagined. Half of the participants will be residing in the north and half in the south
