  • Legacy Scholars Mid Winter Break 2026 San Francisco, CA Application

  • Hi, friends!

    If you are interested in attending the 4-day, 3-night trip to San Francisco, CA, please fill out this application in full. Applications will be reviewed during the first full week of January, and notifications will roll out by Friday, January 9,2026. It is important you upload all documents necessary to be considered for this overnight trip, as there are only 14 spots for students.

    All lodging, meals, and flights/transportation will be fully paid for by the Legacy Scholars program! Students are encouraged to bring pocket money for any souvenirs or other miscellaneous purchases they may make throughout the trip.

    Different activities during the trip will include visiting college campuses (San Francisco State University, Stanford University, City College of San Francisco) and various attractions (Exploratorium, California Academy of Sciences, SF Bay Cruise, Palace of Fine Arts, etc.).

    A more thorough itinerary will be released in late January. 

    APPLICATION DUE DATE: January 2nd, 2026 @ 11:59pm

    • REQUIRED: Photo Identification (ID) Card 
    • We will be flying to San Francisco, CA and students 18+ by February 2026 will need to provide state-issued Enhanced ID to move through TSA and board the plane. Unfortunately, Upward Bound cannot pay for students to receive a state-issued Enhanced ID, so students will need to arrange to receive the proper ID as necessary.

      Different forms of acceptable ID are as followed:

      1. Permit with photo ID
      2. Enhanced drivers license
      3. Enhanced WA state ID 
      4. School photo ID (acceptable for minors only)

    • Below are the eligibility requirements to attend the spring break overnight trip to San Francisco, WA:

      • 2.5+ GPA for Fall 2025 Semester (if less than 2.5 GPA, need to create a student success plan) 
      • Engaged in programming (attends field trips, checks in with Dom/Matavai regularly)
      • Exhibits all the qualities of a Legacy Scholar
      • Priority to Juniors who meet all requirements
      • Attend required info meeting(s) the end of January
      • Must have an Enhanced state ID (18+ in February 2026) or school ID (less than 18)
      • Short essay response: What does it mean for you to be a legacy scholar? What are the qualities you exhibit at activities and events in school, at Legacy Scholars programming, and in other spaces?

      FOR SENIORS: You must have your FAFSA filled out and personal statement complete and sent to Dom (dellerson@pierce.ctc.edu) or Matavai (masaeli@pierce.ctc.edu)
