Thanks for your interest in applying for the New Circle Training & Mentoring Cohort! These cohorts are an opportunity for new Circle leadership teams that are committed to designing their Circles with attention to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Leadership teams will participate in training workshops with other new Circles, structured planning activities focused on designing their own Circle, and mentoring and an in-person visit from an experienced Circle leader.
Leadership teams of proposed new Math Circles are eligible to apply. We anticipate that most successful applications will come from leadership teams consisting of 3 to 5 individuals.
- For MTCs, leadership teams must include members representing both K-12 and higher education.
- MSC leadership teams are expected to include representation from both K-12 and higher education whenever feasible, and are also encouraged to include at least one team member with strong ties to the community or communities that will be served by the proposed Circle.
Please note that a letter of commitment from a host institution is required. A sample letter that you may use as a template is available here.
Each new Circle will receive a grant of $1500. This grant can be used to pay for food, travel, stipends, or materials. The Math Circle Network will also provide a $500 stipend plus reimbursement of travel expenses for an in-person Circle Mentor visit.
The deadline has been extended to Monday, April 22, 2024, with decisions announced by the end of April. Funding is available for leadership teams from up to 5 MSCs and 5 MTCs to participate. Depending on the level of interest in the program, participating leadership teams may be grouped into separate cohorts for MSCs and MTCs.
