Program Description

5 Month filmmaking program hosted by Street Poets Inc. and Youth Mentoring Connection. For the first two months 10-12 mentees will participate in workshops led by industry professionals from different departments organized by Street Poets. The next three months the mentees will have the opportunity to learn more from Mentors/Guests in a 45 minute virtual check-in to prepare them to create two 3-6 minute short films (Comedy & Drama). The mentees will split into two groups and work as a team to write, direct, perform, and edit their own work. At the end of the program, Street Poets and YMC will host a red-carpet-style premiere event where youth, their families, mentors, and staff view the film and celebrate their success.
This program begins in May and ends in September. All of May's workshops will be held virtually online. June-September's workshops will be held in-person. Workshops are every Thursday, 4-6PM.
