Award Descriptions
Ruth Weimer Mount Chapter Excellence (separate application)
The Ruth Weimer Mount Chapter Excellence Award is the highest honor given to any chapter. This award is given to the chapter that demonstrated excellence in chapter operations, advising, visibility, communications, and participation.
Freeman and Fox Most Improved Chapter (separate application)
The fund supports chapters developing their programming and increasing their presence on campus. The chapter receives a monetary award from the endowment; the award is given annually.
Excellence in Advising (separate application)
The Excellence in Advising Award is given to Mortar Board chapter advisors who have demonstrated a commitment to the purpose of Mortar Board and who have gone above and beyond in their work with a collegiate chapter.
Starlington Prize (separate application)
The Starlington Prize for Extraordinary Mortar Board Membership is awarded each year to nominees who have proven that they understand the purpose of Mortar Board, are dedicated to their chapter, and have internalized the true obligation of membership. Any member may nominate another member for this prize.
Gold Torch Awards (apply below)
Recipience must meet minimum selection and acceptance standards as outlined in the Bylaws, and go beyond the minimum, exemplifying scholarship, leadership, and service.
Project Excellence Awards (apply below)
Project Excellence Awards recognize outstanding chapter projects with high member participation and/or high-impact outcomes. Areas include scholarship, leadership, service to the alma mater, fundraising, alumni involvement, community service, Reading is Leading, faculty-staff-student recognition programs, and Mortar Board Week.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEI&B) Award (apply below)
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Awards recognize outstanding efforts/successes by chapters on projects and/or initiatives that focus on the tenets of diversity, equity, inclusion, and member belonging.
Outstanding Achievement Awards (apply below)
We challenge our chapters to think differently about success to focus on areas of achievement that exist outside of programmatic accomplishments. These awards highlight great strides made toward increasing chapter health and visibility on campus. Areas include recruitment & selection; officer/advisor transition, chapter reactivation, campus visibility, and chapter communications.
