MISSION
Pendleton Pride Youth Group's mission is to provide an accepting environment to enhance the personal growth of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and ally youth in the Madison County area. All our activities actively support this mission, and all who work for or on behalf of Pendleton Pride understand and are loyal to this mission.
LEGAL COMPLIANCE
Pendleton Pride complies with relevant city, state, and federal laws and regulations in the conduct of its business. All participants, volunteers, and leadership/committee members are expected to abide by these laws while participating in Pendleton Pride programs and services.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Pendleton Pride prioritizes the safe and appropriate handling of confidential information related to its participants, volunteers, and leadership/committee members. The disclosure of such information by a Pendleton Pride participant or representative to any person, group, organization, business entity, the press, or through any online medium is strictly prohibited.
YOUTH RESPONSIBILITIES
1. I will abide by the organizational policies and procedures set forth by Pendleton Pride, which are periodically reviewed by the leadership/committee members. I will speak to the activity Leader when I have questions related to organizational ethics standards.
2. I will respect myself by speaking openly and honestly, setting appropriate boundaries, being mindful of my personal hygiene, and taking responsibility for my own actions.
3. I will respect others by listening to their perspectives, abstaining from the use of harmful or offensive language, refusing to instigate or partake in physical violence of any kind, and asking for consent before touching, photographing, or recording another individual. I understand that this expectation applies to interactions with Pendleton Pride youth, volunteers, and leadership on social media and other online platforms, as well.
4. I will clean up after myself, be responsible for my own trash, and help maintain a neat and clean environment while participating in Pendleton Pride programs. I will not steal, destroy, or otherwise deface meeting/activity property or the property of another individual.
5. I will not bring, use, view, or share pornography or other sexually explicit materials while at Pendleton Pride meetings, events, or programs.
6. Pendleton Pride youth group has a zero-tolerance policy for drugs, tobacco, vaping, and alcohol. I will not use these substances while at Pendleton Pride meetings, events, or programs, nor will I come to events in possession of or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
7. The possession and/or use of weapons and firearms is strictly prohibited at Pendleton Pride meetings, events, and programs. I agree not to bring or be in possession of these items when participating in Pendleton Pride programs, whether at meetings or elsewhere.
8. I will not disclose the private information of Pendleton Pride or its constituents to any person, group, organization, business entity, the press, or through any online medium. This includes the disclosure of contact and/or indemnifying information for youth members, facilitators, volunteers, and leadership/committee members.
9. I will not enter into a financial, romantic, sexual, or otherwise non-professional relationship with another youth participant, volunteer, or leadership/committee member of Pendleton Pride.
In order to maintain this professional boundary, I agree that I will not:
- Meet a volunteer or leadership/committee member anywhere other than at youth group meetings, events, and programs
- Exchange money or gifts with a volunteer or leadership/committee member
- Give or accept a ride from a volunteer or leadership/committee member (except for prearranged Pendleton Pride youth group activities where required transportation paperwork has been completed and filed)
The above list of prohibited activities and behaviors is non-exhaustive. Youth members are expected to use their best judgement in situations where potential ethical concerns may arise and speak with a Program Leadership when they have questions.
10. I will immediately notify an activity leader if I observe another volunteer violating any of the standards and policies outlined above.
*I understand that any violation of this agreement will result in a meeting with leadership to discuss consequences, which can include, but are not limited to:
- A verbal warning
- Suspension from Pendleton Pride meetings and programming
- Expulsion from Pendleton Pride meetings and programming
