  • YIRA members who receive financial aid from Yale University are eligible to receive comparable financial assistance for participation in YIRA programs. YIRA provides two types of financial aid:

    • Western Business Attire: YIRA members participating in a program that requires Western Business Attire may receive a grant for purchasing such attire.
    • Program-Related Expenses: YIRA members may receive a grant to cover expenses associated with participating in a YIRA program that are not covered by that program.

    For more information on each type of financial aid, scroll down and select the relevant option under "Request Details."

    Please note: this program provides financial aid for Yale students who are members of a YIRA program. If you are a student from another institution who is interested in receiving financial aid to attend one of our programs, please contact that program directly.

    To request YIRA financial aid, please provide the information listed below and submit this form; your request will then be reviewed by the YIRA Treasurer. All of the information you submit (and the fact that you are requesting financial aid in the first place) is confidential and will only be available to the YIRA Treasurer.

  • Financial Aid for Program-Related Expenses

    Financial aid for program-related expenses covers all expenses which are incurred as a result of participating in a YIRA program (e.g., meals during a conference that are not paid for by the conference). YIRA financial aid does not cover optional pre- or post-conference travel or other optional expenses.

    For each YIRA program, the program head and YIRA Treasurer will jointly determine the amount of financial aid available to members based on the estimated expenses that will be incurrred during the program. The program head will then communicate that standard amount to all program members.

    In the box below, please write the amount which was communicated by your program head. If your program head has not told you the amount you should request, please ask them before submitting this form (or if you prefer to be anonymous, contact the YIRA Treasurer at treasurer@yira.org and they will contact your program head without mentioning you).

  • Financial Aid for Western Business Attire

    If you are participating in a YIRA program to that requires Western Business Attire (WBA), you may receive a grant from YIRA to aid in purchasing that attire.

    You can request financial aid for up to $250 of WBA over your time at Yale, but this amount need not all be requested at one time (for example, if you request financial aid for $150 of WBA now, you can request financial aid for up to $100 more if you participate in another YIRA program that requires WBA in the future).

  • Financial Aid Information

  • YIRA financial aid is based on the International Study Award (ISA) percentage associated with your financial aid package from Yale. Specifically, YIRA will reimburse your ISA percentage of the total amount listed above.

    To find your ISA percentage, go to yub.yale.edu on a computer or tablet and log in if prompted. Then, on the left side of the screen, click "Financial Aid" and choose "International Summer Award (ISA) Eligibility". Your screenshot must include both your name and your ISA percentage.

  • YIRA uses Zelle to process reimbursements. If you already have a Zelle account, please provide the email address or phone number linked to your account below.

    If you do not have a Zelle account, please create one before submitting this form. Anyone with a bank account based in the US can sign up for Zelle; most banks support Zelle right in their apps, or if your bank does not, you can sign up by downloading the Zelle app. More details are here.

    If you're unable to sign up for a Zelle account, do not submit this form and instead contact treasurer@yira.org for guidance.
