1. Household Agreement: All members of the household agree to this adoption.
2. Information Received: All information received from those caring for the dogs is passed on in good faith.
3. Stray Animal Disclaimer: Animals may have been found as strays, and as such, their history is unknown. Dogs are evaluated in a shelter environment, and as such, we cannot predict how they will behave in a home environment.
4. Veterinary Checks: All animals are checked by a vet who confirms they are in good health. We will inform the adopter of any known condition or illness of the animal.
5. Pre-Adoption Blood Tests: Prior to travel, the dog will undergo routine blood tests, including for leishmaniasis and brucellosis canis. These tests provide a snapshot of the dog's current health status. The adopter understands and acknowledges that: * Diseases can have latent periods, and new conditions can develop at any time. * Pre-adoption testing does not guarantee future health. Negative test results do not provide absolute assurance that the dog is free from all existing or potential health issues. * The adopter assumes full responsibility for all veterinary expenses related to the dog's health once they have taken ownership of the animal, including but not limited to: Treatment of any existing or newly diagnosed conditions.
6. Liability Disclaimer: We are not liable for any health or behaviour issues that have not been identified.
7. Neutering: Dogs are neutered before adoption, except for puppies that are too young for this procedure. By adopting a puppy, you agree to have them neutered when they are old enough. The adopter will be responsible for all associated costs. Breeding is strictly prohibited.
8. Pet Insurance: We highly recommend that you insure your pet. Adopters should research the available options and choose an insurance company that meets their needs and circumstances.
9. Legal Requirements: All adopters must comply with all legal requirements associated with pet ownership, including ensuring microchip contact details are kept up to date for the lifetime of the animal.
10. Financial Responsibility: The adopter is aware of the costs of owning a dog and is willing and able to financially support these costs, including but not limited to: insurance, food, shelter, veterinary care, training, and dog walkers if required.
11. Welfare and Behaviour: The adopter takes full responsibility for the welfare and behaviour of the dog from the date of adoption.
12. Time Commitment: The adopter has adequate time to spend with their new dog, including training, exercise, and grooming.
13. Criminal Background: The adopter, or anyone in the household, has never faced criminal charges or been prosecuted for animal cruelty. The adopter, or anyone in the household, has never been banned from keeping animals.
15. No Resale: All adopters must not sell or pass on the dog during the lifetime of the animal. If, for any reason, an adopter has to relinquish care of their animal, they must contact us.
16. Relinquishing ownership: The dog is being adopted from Animals Help (Protectora de Animales de Xermade, Os Carballas s/n, 27832 Xermade, Lugo, Spain), a shelter in Spain run by Sonia Camino Jurado. Should the adopter decide to relinquish care of the dog, the dog is to return to Animals Help unless suitable arrangements are made with the approval of Sonia Camino Jurado.
