Our DLM Team strives to provide Community Impact equal to Client Impact, while still taking care of our personal lives, families, and friends with a rewarding life balance. Many companies promise tight deadlines, where we promise that our team is genuinely happy to help you because we love what we do.

    Our Founding Individuals

Tyler Rouse Founder, Software Engineer, Army Combat Veteran

Forged in Army disciplines, ethics, and morals, Tyler strives to create positive impact wherever he is, often lending more time to others than working. For DLM, Tyler develops all DLM Software, Client Tools, and Web Portal items.

DLM places Principals and Values First.

Our Company is Veteran Owned and Operated by a Army Combat Veteran that has deployed to Iraq (OIF) and Afghanistan (OEF), attributing a strong basis for disciplines, ethics, values, and principals founded in military service. These are brought into Data Lake Masters by ensuring profits are never the first concern and that we always seek equal benefit with our partners. This is conveyed in our Pricing, Success Plans, and the desire for our clients to succeed by owning their BI Tools. In our Data Collection, our methods are based in our ethics, having concern for End-Point Impact, always limiting our collection to forward facing resources, and prioritizing Pre-Assembled Data. At the end of each day, our team is most concerned with being able to see themselves as upstanding contributing members of our society, which is only possible by ensuring every action is fair, equivocal, and ethical.

    We Encourage Open Communication

Consistent, Open communication is a cornerstone of our Development and Client Relationship. Being In-The-Know reduces frustration, stress, and anxiety in any relationship, and we aim to provide excellence by developing and maintaining communication lines and product delivery. For Data Products, having our Data Delivery Automated creates a reliable, consistent data delivery experience that removes the human error component of routine tasks.

    Flat Pricing to Eliminate Suprises

Nothing is more frustrating than a project that "balloons" in costs, despite having a pre-defined agreement. All of our development is Flat-Rate, with No Extra Fees, No Interest on Success Plan Payments, and Our Pricing is transparent using our BI Tool Calculator, BI Management Calculator, or Data Product Calculator. Know your pricing without having to talk to anyone (but of course reach out if you have any questions!)

Pride in our Work = Pride in Ourselves

We associate every action we commit ourselves to as a testament to who we are as people. When taking on a task, we ensure we complete it to the best of our ability every time as a way of building our own pride in our accomplishments. At the end of each day, it is important for us to know that we honored our commitments, excelled expectations, and did the best we could with everything we faced.

Step 1: Review Data and Determine Design

    Timeline: Day 1 - Day 3

In Reviewing Your Data, we look for angles of presentation and valuable metrics that are relevant to your intended BI Tool goals. We can often accommodate more than you may originally intend, without adding additional costs to your project! Based on our unique project billing system, you aren't paying by the hour, but by the total number of Pages / Layers required to accommodate all of the BI Tool needs.

Once the Data Discovery is completed, we focus on Design and BI Layout to accommodate all of the desired data items. These are often Charts, Graphs, Matrix, or other visuals and where these will reside on your BI Report. For each Visual, we ensure that we understand the Who, What, When, Where, and Why of your design ideas to minimize issues at a later time! There will always be adjustments in the Refinement and QA Phase, but diligence here in the Planning Phase is our key to efficiency!

    Step 2: Initial Development
    Timeline: Day 4 - Day 15

During this time, we are busy Building Your Project by adding all of the Data, the subscribed DLM Data Lake Data (if applicable), and adding this data group to Visuals, Graphs, Charts, and other Data Representations. Ensuring a smooth User Experience, Ease of Use, and developing Technical Documentation are our priorities during this phase.

If requested, we can also add In-Report Training Resources during this phase, providing your Users with a unique Training experience as they utilize the report once completed. We are often completed with this phase before 15 Days, however certain challenges or delays may occur which require time to overcome or resolve. While this phase is underway, we may reach out to our Partners for clarification or critical feedback as needed (we will always minimize needs of our Partners time!).

Step 3: Refinement and Quality Assurance
    Timeline: Day 16 - Day 25

During Refinement, we are assessing our Design and Data Layout in your BI Tool for any minor changes needed, and our Partners' Feedback to optimize the Design of the BI Tool. There are often color changes or a rearranging of Data Visualizations, however we take pride in meeting the Project Scope (meaning that we are often very close to our Partners goals at the start of this process).

For Quality Assurance, we are building automated processes to Audit the BI Tool Data for absolute accuracy. Ideally, this Automation allows us to ensure your BI Tool is 100% correct, without the need to dedicate hours of manual verification. Instead, we click a single button in our Audit Automation Software to perform our Partners BI Tool Audits! This saves a tremendous amount of time and enables us to keep our pricing as low as possible.

    Step 4: Delivery and Training
    Timeline: Day 25 - Day 30

Upon Delivery of our BI Tools, we dedicate time to Training and Familiarization with You and your Team to ensure you can maximize the potential of your BI Tool! If your BI Tool was paid for without a Success Plan, you now Own this Tool! Otherwise, the BI Tool is delivered and signifies the start of your BI Success Plan.

Don’t forget about our (optional) Power BI Management services! We can eliminate the headache of User Management, Tenant Management, and Security Management, all while being ready for follow on training and User Support!

BI Tool Pricing Made Easy with Flat Rates!

3 Easy-To-Determine Complexity Levels, placing You in Charge!
Developing Projects can quickly become expensive when billed Hourly, Monthly, or even Perpetually (like a Subscription). Owning your own BI Tool doesn’t have to be a moment of hard decision and critical balance, when it should be a moment of celebration and partnership building. At Data Lake Masters, we take pride in building and delivering our Partners BI Tools while making them both affordable and effective! We have NO hidden fees, no additional charges, and you OWN your BI Tool when it is paid in full! Find the Price, and never be surprised with Data Lake Masters!

    Determining Layers within Pages

Layering enhances BI Tools with Additional Capacity for your data visuals, consolidating many Pages into one!
Not including space used by Menus or Headers, Layers within a page are determined by the "Total Space Utilized", aiming to have unique data visuals occupying 75% or greater for each Layer. While many smaller Layered areas can be contained within an Overall Layer (as seen in the Lower Right of Layer 3 in the example provided), the "Total Space Utilized" is summed together (in %) until 90% or Greater is met for it to be considered another Layer of its own. We strive to Minimize the number of billable Layers in an effort to reduce your BI Tool cost, and reinforce our "We Succeed Together" mentality!

A True Power BI Management Solution

Scalable, Easy, and Designed for Minimizing Your Costs!
When development is completed and the BI Tool is ready for use, the question of BI Management becomes the next focus point. While not every BI will need BI Management or a BI License to access the BI Tool, it is a safe bet to assume that Your BI Tool will likely need BI Management if any User Security, Data Security, or Group Security is needed. The only option for Publishing a BI Tool that does NOT require a Power BI License is "HTML/iFrame Embedding" (this is a Public Facing style BI Tool).
Our BI Management is designed to provide a cost effective, scalable (per User), and tiered solution that meets your needs, without paying for anything you don't need. When considering the prices, please note that each User receives a $20 Power BI License (paid to Microsoft).

Adjustable Scaling Users on the Tiers

Scale Down on Tiers as Users becomes more familiar with your BI Tool!
Often, Partners will be looking for ways to reduce overhead (for great reasons!) and find where funds can best be allocated. To assist our Partners in this pursuit of efficiency, we actually encourage our Partners to increase or reduce any User's Tier (Bronze to Silve/Gold, or Gold to Silver/Bronze) as they see fit. For each User, the User is billed at the assigned level unless the User used a benefit of a Higher Tier during the billing cycle. The User is NOT transitioned to the Higher Tier automatically!

Temporary Elevation Example: If a Bronze User requests 1-on-1 Training (available only to Gold Tier), the User will be temporarily elevated to a Gold Tier User for the 1 billing cycle they received the "1-on-1 Training" service. The following month, the User is billed again at Bronze Tier until another higher-tier service is provided.

Power BI Security - Already Built In!
Scalable, Easy, and Designed for Minimizing Your Costs!
Power BI uses Row Level Security, which enforces security filtering and access on each and every row of data.  This is built into the tool itself, ensuring that there is no external dependencies that can be used to bypass this security measure.

Break down your Data to Access Groups

Executives along with all other staff can use the SAME BI Link to access the same BI Tool! The Row Level Security filters the data to the appropriate level and focus area, ensuring that management can only see management data, while restaurant staff only see restaurant data (for department focuses).  This simplifies the creation and use of your new BI Tool!

Accessing your BI Tool couldn't be Easier!

Your BI Tool is available via Web or Mobile Device!

Web Access of your BI Tool

Using a web link intended for your BI Tool, Users can access the tool and use it in its entirety (depending on Row Level Security settings).  The Web view is recommended, as all of the visuals are represented in their entirety, and the viewing space for data to become more detailed is available.

Mobile Access of your BI Tool

Microsoft provides a Power BI Mobile App which allows access to all of your BI Reports with a specialized Mobile view. This Mobile View shows a smaller, more compact version of the BI Report, generally sticking to higher level Key Point Indicators and simpler graphs/visuals.

A True Partnership built on Trust and Confidence

Our Success Plans embody Succeeding Together, Starting with You!
Developing Projects can quickly become expensive when faced with so much intelligence potential in a BI Report. Using a Success Plan on the path to owning your own BI Tool doesn’t have to be a moment of hard decision and critical balance, when it should be a moment of celebration and partnership building. At Data Lake Masters, we take pride in building and delivering our Partners BI Tools while making them both affordable and effective! When paired with a Success Plan, you can pay over time (with a 25% down payment) at 0% interest! We have NO hidden fees, no additional charges, and OWN your BI Tool when it is paid in full. Find the Price, Pay over time for nothing extra, and never be surprised with Data Lake Masters!

Always Scary: Cancelling a Success Plan?

No worries! You can Pause or Cancel a Success Plan with NO Penalty!

We truly stand by our motto of "Succeed Together", and our tools are designed to help YOU succeed. If for any reason that you (as our Partner) need to Cancel or Pause a Success Plan, be rest assured that there are no fees at all! We want all of our Partners to be thrilled with our services, and that starts by ensuring our partnership is always in Your best interest.

When Cancelling or Pausing a Success Plan (or for Success Plans that are 30 days or more past due), we simply replace the BI Tool screen with a "Under Maintenance" screen which prevents access to the BI Tool, but does not indicate a payment or account issue.

There are NO Fees with Restarting a Success Plan or making a late payment!

Please Note: Success Plans cover the entire cost of the BI Tool Development, and payments made are to "catch up" on the amount owed. Cancellations do NOT provide any refund. Our BI Tools are fully developed before a Success Plan starts, with time, expenses, and team members already completed with their commitments.

This is all made possible because our Success Plans are In-House and utilize no Lending. This means (with transparency), that we at Data Lake Masters accept all of this risk. We do this in an effort to ensure that our company always strives for Impact First (instead of Profit First), and we are proud to help businesses achieve what Power BI can provide for them.

    Unavoidable: Microsoft Licensing

All Power BI Reports are hosted on Microsoft Fabric servers, providing a robust secure and easily accessibly platform.  Unfortunately, this also means the requirement of a Power BI Pro License ($20/mo) is required for all Users accessing a BI Tool. The only way to avoid this is to publicly publish the BI Tool, which is NOT recommended for any BI containing any form of sensitive data.

DLM BI Management Includes this License in All Plans

We try to keep everything as simple as possible here at Data Lake Masters! All of our Power BI Management Plans (Bronze, Silver, Gold) come with a Power BI Pro license per User. This ensures that all of your Users have access, all of the time. Should any issues occur (very rare, other than password resets), simply let us know and we will address it immediately!

    Data Lake Development

Our Data Lake continues to grow every day, adding distant data sources and providing links between data focus areas that are traditionally very difficult to maintain.  We utilize an In-House Software produced by our team to create and automate every need of the data collection and data lake growing process.  Once a data source is added, it automatically gathers and updates the appropriate data lake data, saving us time and money, which reduces our overhead costs, which saves our clients money (by affording lower prices).

    Data Lake Data Linking

Data Lake Development requires a bullet-proof system for comparing and linking data.  Our DLM exclusive system makes it simple, based in the same way that we link and relate information as humans. Through the "6th Degree of Separation" concept of life applied to data, we catalogue all data being entered into the data lake in great detail and using a "DLM Relational Matrix", can tie distant data together to show as a data product.

    Data Lake QA

Quality Assurance within a data lake is always the Top Priority!  No matter how much information is added, it is only valuable and useful if it is clean, viable data. Our In-House software has 4 Quality Assurance Checkpoints and over a dozen Data Safeguards to ensure it limits and checks data accordingly prior to being entered into the Data Lake. Our Central Management section of the software alerts our staff to any anomalies, discrepancies, or issues that may be occurring within Collection or QA so it can be promptly handled.

    Data Lake QA Automation

Quality Assurance within our Data Lake is automated using the steps and procedures outlined within the data collection and refinement of any data source. Automation during this process provides many excellent advantages, such as mitigating human error in each QA phase, accelerating results, and any anomaly or failure in QA is reported to their human data specialist counterparts for immediate attention.  This all leads into keeping our overhead low, so our pricing can be low.

Data As A Service is the production and delivery of routine Data Products (Structured Data), which is used within a Data Visualization Tool (like Power BI, Excel), often to compare distant data. From the Clients perspective, it gives the ability to compare outlying factors and see the impact on their business such as shipping delays/pricing, community/societal trend data, or even competing company data. With this data alongside yours, it can enable more informed decisions in reducing costs and fine tuning areas to increase revenue.
As Data is constantly updating and accruing as time continues, Data As A Service is simply a subscription to a specific Data Perspective, where the pricing is set by "Update Interval" for that data product. The Update Interval Price is more expensive the shorter the interval (Daily is more expensive than Weekly, which is more expensive than Monthly, etc.). All Data Perspectives come complete with a Data Scoring and Viability Report specific to each column of data.

    Data Lake Scalability

Data Lake Development either requires intense labor and manhours with many skilled persons updating and maintaining data contained within the data lake. Our In-House software is designed to be a "Set-Up and Automate" system, where we are adding the process of a sources collection on the initial setup, and our software automates those processes from that moment onward.  With This approach, we can typically add a new data source within 1 hour, and have it automated from then on.

    This provides:

    • Growth without latency or requirement for greater personnel
    • Automated Data Collection with minimal labor and Time requirements
    • Automated Data QA to reduce the traditionally most time-consuming task
    • Automated Data Inclusion to the Data Lake
    • Automated Data Lake navigation and Data Selection
    • And finally, Automated Data Product Generation and Delivery to our Clients

    Automation Building

With DLM Automation Services, we specialize in taking routine tasks performed daily, and turning them into automated tasks by a click of a button or schedule. Our In-House Automation Software allows us to set-up an automation flow, and have it run the entirety of your task, producing your desired results, and enabling you for success at a fraction of human labor costs and without the potential for human error.

    Automation involves 3 east Steps:

    1. Understanding the Process for Automation (1 - 3 Days)

    2. Developing the Automation Process (3 - 10 Days)

    3. Reviewing and QA of Automation (3 - 10 Days)

Depending on if the Software is In-House or Developed, the Client may or may not receive a software product containing the automation steps.

    In House vs Developed Automation

In-House Automation is like outsourcing a task to DLM, where we complete it using our automation, and you receive an end product as desired. There are some Pros and Cons to this method, and the alternative method.

Pros: No Development Costs, No Software to manage or deal with

Cons: No Ownership of the Automation which leads to perpetual billing.

Developed Automation is like contracting DLM to produce a Automation Software for your company, where your company would receive a software product, giving ownership of the automation and eliminating the perpetual billing cycle.

Pros: Ownership over the automation software, No Perpetual Biling

Cons: Development is costly and introduces additional hassles

    Automation Ownership

Own Your Automation Tool as an Asset

Ownership of your tools occurs when your Automation Tool development is paid in full.  We don't currently offer any Success Plans for Automation, however we do intend on opening this in the future. When you Own your Automation Tool, you don't owe DLM anything from that moment forward, but you have your tool to use whenever it is convenient to use!

    Our Practices at DLM

    Dependable, Affordable Flat Pricing
Automation Tools are Owned by our Clients when paid in Full
Exact Scalable Development reducing overhead costs

    Practices We Avoid

    Hourly, Expensive Pricing

3 Easy Steps to Getting Started With Your Data!

    1. Define Your Data Perspective
A Data Perspective is a dataset that consists of 1 Primary and 2 Secondary data focus areas. The Primary data focus is the primary focus of the data (like a Noun in vocabulary), such as a select industries Company Data, Shipping Delays Data, and specific Product Data. Secondary Data Focus Areas are supplemental to the Primary, showing relevant data Per Primary. The Data Perspective as a whole should provide relevant insight to your Company, its performance, and Revenue/Expense Impact Areas.

    2. Select Your Update Interval
The dynamic nature of Data in Time requires a consistent updating of data to remain relevant, as we are often comparing Current to Historical Data. Update Intervals can provide Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Annual recurring data updates, based on what data is being captured and the dynamic importance of its fluctuations. Product Data as an example may be measured in Daily or Monthly fluctuations based on the Clients needs. One-Time Data is also available!

    3. Select Data Delivery Method
In the world of competing software, devices, and data storage, we provide many different methods of Data Delivery to best suit your needs. We even provide Custom Software Solutions to quickly upload/update your DLM data so it is quickly and readily prepared for your data tools. Typically, we deliver this through a Unique URL Link for Download in Excel (.xlsx), CSV, or provide our Auto-Downloader tool (free tool, Windows Only) which provides SQL UPDATE + INSERT support. If you utilize a storage that we currently do not support, or if you believe a custom tool could make it easier, Let Us Know!

    Data Quality Assurance

    Data Lake QA

Quality Assurance within our Data Products are critical to our reliability.

    Data Delivery

Data Delivery is usually dictated at this point by the vendor (that's us), and its usually because of limited systems access.  Since we develop our own In-House software, we can generally deliver your data in any way that YOU would prefer it. If you have another preferred method, just let us know!  Its very likely we will adopt your request and include it into our In-house software.  Currently, we deliver our data to our clients using the following methods:

    • SFTP - Delivered via File (CSV, XLSX)
    • Secured Web page - Delivered via File (CSV, XLSX)
    • SQL Transaction - Delivered as INSERT/UPDATE connection

    Automated Delivery

Data Products are delivered automatically by the final phase of our In-House Software, with the Collection, QA, and Data lake Updating all being scheduled and automated prior to each data product delivery.  This automation enables us to ensure that you always get your data products On Time, Every Time.

    Data Perspectives

Data Perspectives are the basis of all our Data Products. Each Data Perspective is a dataset of data, or a large single sheet of data on an Excel Spreadsheet comprised of a Primary Data Focus Area (the core of the data), and 2 Secondary Focus Areas (supplemental data added to the core data).
The best way to picture a Data Perspective (Example is for a Resident Care Facility):

Primary Data Focus Secondary Data Focus # 1
    Secondary Data Focus # 2

Data Perspective Results as a Product

Data Perspectives can result in either 1 Large Table containing all 3 Data Focuses combined (By adding the Secondary Data Focuses as additional columns, matched by identifying columns) or it can be up to 3 Separate Tables.  If more than 1 table is required, additional details are sent to our client to simplify Data Discovery and integration.

    Data Viability Scoring

Data Viability Scoring is the method we use at DLM to determine the "Trust/Confidence Factor" we have for each column or source of data. Each Data Product comes complete with this report, detailing key factors such as "Source Confidence", "Column Confidence", "Number of Blank Values", etc in an effort to be transparent in our findings and maintain integrity in our services. We assess this on the following concepts:

Source: How well known and trusted is the Source?  Is the information maintained by a company, or by its users? How reliable is the Source based on average data assessment?

Column: How frequent are Blanks occurring?  Is the information complete, or a prelude segment? What is the rate of QA Anomaly Detection (occurs when QA finds a new item in question)?

    Data Pricing

We try to keep everything simple and effective. Our Data Pricing is no exception, where we price each Data Perspective simply by Data Update Interval. As it requires more resources to refresh Daily than Annually, our pricing reflects the same trend, being more expensive when refreshed Daily, and less expensive when refreshed Annually with varying flat-rate pricing in between.

One-Time Data is Available upon request, Billed Practically.

Not every client will need data routinely, but may need it for other purposes such as Research, Historical Data Analysis, or a variety of other needs. We do provide Custom Data Perspectives without a routine data delivery, billed based on the time range of data included, and the granularity (if the data is Monthly, Daily, etc). Static Data (such as static Company Data, is billed at $0.01 per row. ). Most clients will receive a Custom Data Perspective at the prices listed above, as Data is typically a "Over-Time" pursuit.

    Data Storage Systems

Our Data Storage is all located In-House, reducing our overhead costs and allowing us to pass that through into keeping our data pricing low.  All of our system operating Data Collection, QA/Refinement, Uploading, and Data product creation are all also In-House.

With our Data Storage, we focus on Security, QA, Redundancy, and Scalability, all centrally managed by our Central Management In-House software, with the exception of required native 3rd party applications.

If a Data Storage were to ever fail, we simply recollect the data and re-open the data availability for that data section again! If for any reason a data perspective is unavailable, our billing system is automatically flagged to not bill you during that cycle as the product would be unavailable.

Our In-House Data Software Operates in 4 Phases:

    Data Collection

    • Collects Data and prepares it for Refinement
    • This phase establishes steps and procedures for the collecting of data from any structured public source. After the initial creation of the Data Flow, the collection is fully automated including scheduling of data updating.
    • This phase takes the longest of the 4.

    Data QA and Upload

    • Refines Data & Uploads it to the Data Lake
    • This phase receives the data collected in the previous phase and refines the data based on a set of automated refinement rules. Once completed, it uploads the data to the Data Lake, updating existing records and inserting new records as needed.
    • This phase is the most complex of the 4.

    Data Recall

    • Discovers Data & Exports it from the Data Lake
    • Based on the Data Lake configuration, this relates data selected to any Primary data point of a Data Perspective (usually industry data, competing company data, etc.) and facilitates the building of a completed Data Perspective.
    • This phase is the easiest of the 4.

    Data Delivery

    • Delivers Data on a Schedule Automatically, On Time
    • Using the data from the previous phase, this phase prepares and delivers the data to the Partner on a scheduled basis, after data lake data updating has all occurred. This enables our Partners to continue with their mission on time.
    • This phase is the fastest of the 4.

    Primary Focus Areas

Primary Focus Areas are the basis of every Data Product, serving as the primary focus of the data, and therefore having the most/reliable data.  Generally for businesses this would be "Competing Company Data", or "Product Data", for Non-Profits this can be anything related to the field of focus.

This Primary Focus Area builds the base for the Data Perspective, which results in either 1 Large Table containing all 3 Data Focuses combined (By adding the Secondary Data Focuses as additional columns, matched by identifying columns) or it can be up to 3 Separate Tables.
