Annie Oliver was the first President of OASIS. Annie accepted responsibility for the leadership of a new organization, the goal of which was to provide services to and promote the interests of agencies that serve people with developmental disabilities and their families. From a base of six agencies at its inception in 1996, she helped to develop an influential organization that now has nearly 200 members. A leader, who used her intelligence, organizational skills, common sense and good humour to steer the evolution of OASIS from its fledgling stage to maturity. She remains an example to all of us. The recipients of this award, named in her honour, follow in her footsteps, perpetuating the highest standards of integrity and dedication to enabling the best quality services and supports for people with developmental disabilities.
