Supporting Minorities with Disabilities Coalition

Our goal is to raise awareness of all abilities and partner to strengthen coordination to improve services for families in the state of Oklahoma, with a special emphasis on the OKC metro area.Together, we will explore new ways to bring additional supports to the hands of underserved populations and increase the quality of resources available in our communities.Through the unified voices of community members of all backgrounds we will ensure families of individuals with disabilities are empowered to facilitate a better quality of life.

**Parent support committee**: Hosts monthly meetings and offers parents opportunities to connect with other families through quarterly Sibshops, respite events, and community groups. **Cultural Awareness**: Partners with the OKC Metro Library to expand accessible and inclusive programs, promotes cultural awareness through research and community education, and uplifts the voices of minorities with disabilities. **Education Support Committee**: Provides education and support to families, partners with schools to expand resources for underserved communities, and promotes equality and understanding through disability awareness talks. **Outreach Committee/Marketing**: Leads community outreach by hosting disability-inclusive book readings in schools, sharing educational content on social media, and promoting messages of inclusion, belonging, and representation across the OKC metro.
