Spousal Privilege
In the UK, spouses and civil partners are generally exempt from inheritance tax on assets inherited from each other. This means that when one spouse dies and leaves assets to the surviving spouse, those assets are typically exempt from inheritance tax, regardless of their value. This exemption is commonly referred to as the "spousal exemption" or "spousal transfer."
