• The Martinez Scholarship and Internship in Law Enforcement Application Form

  • The Martinez Scholarship and Internship in Law Enforcement is awarded to students who secure summer or semester internships at any local, state, tribal, or federal law enforcement law organization. Recipient(s) of the award shall be selected in any given year by the Director of the Wheaton Center for Faith, Politics & Economics (“FPE”). Awards will be made regardless of financial need based on the following guidelines and conditions: 

    • The award is an annual award whereby qualified student(s), as set out below,   receive a merit-based stipend that carries an internship requirement. 
    • Number of hours for a summer or semester internship at any Local, State, Tribal or Federal law enforcement organization should be approved by the FPE. 
    • Applicants must successfully complete an application before they are eligible for consideration. Each applicant must demonstrate that they are familiar with the background and rationale for scholarship. 
    • After the FPE Director has chosen the recipient(s), copies of all essays and applications shall be sent to the Center for Faith, Politics & Economics to forward to individuals who receive reports concerning the Fund. 
    • Upon completion of the internship, students must submit a report to the FPE Program Coordinator. This report should include the following:
      • Summary of interns activities;
      • Student summary statement of experience;
      • An evaluative note from the sponsoring agency Supervising official;
      • Interview with a committee member reflecting on the experience
        • A copy of the completion package will be sent to the Martinez Family.
    • The summer 2026 application deadline for this scholarship is March 1.

    N.B. It will be the responsibility of the students and their families to comply with any tax laws regarding any taxable income created by this award.
