Greetings Graduating Senior!

The North San Diego County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is pleased to invite college-bound graduating seniors of North San Diego County High Schools, especially of African American/Black descendants, to apply for the organization’s 2024 Academic Scholarship awards. Graduating seniors currently attending high schools in North San Diego County and seeking admission to 4-year colleges/universities and 2-year community colleges are encouraged to apply for consideration of a scholarship award. This year, the North San Diego County Alumnae Chapter (NSDCAC) will award six (6) scholarships of $1000 each.

In order to be eligible for an award, a recipient must be:

1) Enrolled as a full time student in a college or university for the Fall 2025 Semester/Quarter

2) Provide the official documentation of enrollment from your University's Registrar Office to the North San Diego County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.

GENERAL INFORMATION/INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

1. Eligibility for this scholarship is intended for students of African American/Black descent.

2. Applicant must be a North San Diego County resident and a graduating senior attending a North San Diego County High School.

3. Meet a minimum requirement of a 3.0 grade-point-average on a standard 4.0 scale.

4. Application submissions not completed online will require a printed copy of the full application packet postmarked or date stamped no later than March 22nd and mailed to North San Diego County Alumnae Chapter, PO Box 502871, San Diego, CA 92150-2871.

The completed application packet must contain the following:

5. An official high school transcript to verify a minimum of 3.0 grade point average on an overall 4.0 scale.

6. Demonstrated record of extracurricular activities in leadership and community service.

7. One (1) page essay addressing a question chosen from the writing prompt found in the application below. It must be double-spaced and in 12-point font.

8. Acknowledgement of family income and makeup of family unit.

9. Two (2) letters of recommendation, i.e., school administrators, counselors, teachers, community leaders, employer. etc.
- The letter of recommendation should be written on school or organization letterhead.
- School Personnel Letter of Recommendation: Whether the letter is written on school letterhead or not, the letter must include the name and position of the person writing the letter, the school address, the person's contact information (email or phone number) and the letter must be signed and dated.
- Community Leader Letter of Recommendation: Whether the letter is written on organization letterhead or not, the letter must include the name and position of the person writing the letter, their address, the person's contact information (email or phone number) and the letter must be signed and dated.
10. Submit completed application(s) via the online portal to dstnsdcac@gmail.com or mail printed application(s) to NSDCAC Academic Scholarships, P. O. Box 502871, San Diego, CA 92150-2871. Send questions or request for support to dstnsdcac.org.

11. The application period is February 12, 2025 through March 22, 2025. Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 14, 2025. Please note that the scholarship awards are for the Fall 2025 college enrollment period.
